  • Bad all around

If you are in a pinch with 2 feet of snow in your driveway, you are better off using a spoon to dig your way out. The app itself is flawed in many ways. But the business is even more flawed. They aren’t capable of keeping up with the work, and I find them cancelling service in areas that get the most snow. Their app doesn’t tell you ahead of time if they are swamped with calls and running behind. So you place your order and find yourself waiting for hours and hours until you finally reach out to customer service who tells you they are taking up to 8 hours to fill all ASAP orders. But the catch is, they still assign your order to a driver, so if you want to cancel they use that against you to keep your money. Something has gone wrong every time I have tried to give this failure of a business a chance. They are reluctant to refund you when something goes wrong, and usually come up with excuses to keep a percentage of your money, even if the error is on their side. They have serviced the wrong address and then made me wait another 4 hours for a plow to come back, and didn’t refund me even a penny and never apologized other than in an automated email. So get a spoon and start digging because you’ll be done before they ever get to you.

cat091716 Thank you for sharing. We will always work on getting someone out there as ordered and ASAP; sometimes heavy snowfall and lack of roadways being clear can delay things. But rest assured we will get someone out there to clear you out as quickly as we can.
  • Terrible Work and Terrible Customer Service

Update: Thanks, Billy, but I removed the app and I’m not interested in dealing with the company further. I have accepted that it was the price for a lesson learned. I spoke to “Sojata,” “Faith,” someone only named as “Operator,” and “Ian,” and that fantastic four was enough for me.

The landscaper they sent out did a lazy job and didn’t do any of the extras I added and paid for on top of the already very overpriced regular service. After sending before/after photos from my outside security camera and exchanging numerous emails with an ever-changing cast of customer service agents, none who offered any refund or re-servicing of my lawn, I ended up with a guy who literally emailed “what do you want me to do about it?” How difficult is it to make something right?! I paid for extras - either get someone to do them or refund the money. It’s a simple concept that this company pretends they don’t understand. I wouldn’t trust them or anyone they send out to work. Now I see why the first mow is so expensive - because they know it’s unlikely that there will ever be a second. Avoid this app.

Hi Edith, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. We have tried to locate this job in our system to verify what you are saying. Unfortunately we are unable to locate the job, or your contact information. We would love to connect with you to 1) see what happened, 2) verify the communication you had with us and our team members, and 3) figure out how to move forward to ensure things are resolved to your satisfaction. Please feel free to email your address and contact information to billy@plowz.com and we would be happy to look into this more for you. And you are correct, if the extras you ordered were not done, they should and will be refunded. Send us an email and we can dig right into this for you.
  • Customer service is terrible. Mow was good

TLDR: overpriced mow. Bad customer service. Making up policies to avoid clear communication.

I booked a mow a few days ago for today. I got an email saying someone agreed to come cut my grass that day.

This morning rolls around and I’ve heard nothing else. No ETA, no name of who to expect, nothing. I reached out to customer service to find out who I should expect and they said they could t tell me due to their privacy policy. They had no idea about an estimated time of arrival, and after “looking into it” they responded that the provider was outside right then, no notice.

Upon looking at the privacy policy, it does not say that they can’t share the name or any information about who is coming to property in their policies.

I would have expected some info, like how Uber or Lyft or other gig based apps provide basic info about who will be coming to do your job.

In asking questions about the policies, they repetitively refused to read the emails I sent for content and to insist they can’t share information based on their policies(that again don’t exist or state that).

Needless to say I won’t use them again and I don’t think this is a good company. The person who did the mowing was nice, did a decent job, but the single time mow was way overpriced.

    Don’t use this company.

  • Not worth the money.

Your service is consistently significantly more expensive than similar services in my area. I used your service for nearly a summer but cancelled my recurring service and bought a lawn mower, which cost the equivalent of two service visits. This weekend I decided to give you another shot... I’ve started renting a home on Airbnb and needed my yard cleaned up between guests. I paid $300 for a yard cleanup with pet cleanup and edging of sidewalks (ridiculous, but I was willing to pay it because of time commitments this week). You sent the job to a provider and it was scheduled for today. At 2pm I received a notification that the ETA for my job was 5pm. At 630pm nobody had shown up. I contacted customer support, and was told the provider ran over time at a previous location and wouldn’t be able to complete the job today “due to lack of light but rescheduled for tomorrow”. It’s 7pm and still light out. Also, it’s forecast to rain for the next two days. If you had been honest and said you couldn’t complete the job for three days, I would have done it myself and saved the $300. Poor service and poor communication, at a premium cost. I won’t be using your service again and won’t be recommending it to others.

  • 0 stars DO NOT USE

I waited two days for this company while they gave me ETA after ETA and they sent no one to my house after repeatedly telling me somebody was coming within the hour. I then canceled my job and they did not tell the provider so he showed up to my driveway with a plastic shovel and begin shoveling in the middle of this process they informed me he was at my house and that I needed to go tell him to stop working if I wanted to cancel even though I had canceled within the application already they wanted me to go fire a man who was shoveling my driveway unknowingly not getting paid. I’ve never dealt with such bad customer service in my lifetime. Take a few minutes to search your local Facebook pages because a lot of people are offering the same services

  • Snow Plow Service

I can’t say enough about Plowz and Mowz. I was looking for a snow plow service near me (right after a big snow fall) and was having zero luck. Then I happened onto Plowz and Mowz. I downloaded the app (which is so cool and so easy to use) and within 5 minutes I had my service booked and confirmed. They give you the price upfront and you can confirm or reject it. Then after you put in your address it pulls up a picture of your house so they can see what shape and size your driveway is for the plow. A few hours later our plow guy showed up and did a really great job on our driveway. They leave a ‘completed job’ picture for you on your app too. They had many other yard type services available too and I will definitely be using them again! Thank you for making it all so easy. Definitely a happy customer!

  • Blame the weather, then blame the customer

I am deleting this app after this reviewing and opting for a local snow removal service. This winter I have used the app 3x. The first time the plow never arrived. I was texting customer service til midnight for a plow ordered for 2pm. I didn’t know if my kids could get to their bus stop in the morning. Customer service via text blamed the weather- literally the business they are in. It was only when I called that I was told they had lost communication with driver and had no ETA. She cancelled the order and put in a new one marking it as urgent, and a plow arrived within the hour. Something someone could have done hours before.
The second snow removal was a random man with a snow blower, which is fine except he made path so narrow I could barely pull out.
The third snow removal job (yesterday) the plow went half way down the driveway, into my lawn (tearing it up) for some reason and then left. When I asked for a refund for a job not completed (with photos included) I was told my driveway “looked longer” than was stated and so “probably the driver did just the 7 car amount. Hope that helps!” No follow up with the driver, no asking for actual driveway measurements, totallly ignored the fact that I have ordered a dozen or so jobs with this same information and never had problem. So blame the weather, then blame the customer is this company’s preferred method of problem solving.

  • Timing wasn’t the best

I love the idea of this service, especially that you can request a one-time service and pay up front. I don’t like that there is no way to specify when you need the service. You are given a choice of “ASAP” or you can pick a day, but you can’t pick a timeframe. This is important for me because I leave for work around 6 AM. I submitted my request the day before I needed it, we got 6+ inches of snow, and when I needed to get out of my driveway in the morning it hadn’t been plowed. They ended up plowing around 9:30am that day. Also my driveway is “T” shaped, and this wasn’t a choice when you were asked for the shape of the driveway they are plowing. I think the idea of giving only a few choices from a drop-down menu doesn’t work well for everyone. I suggest a way for the customer to add more info when submitting a job request.

  • Pointless app with horrible customer service

Needed my lawn mowed by Monday. Scheduled ahead of time for Sunday. Well it’s 6:30pm on Sunday and no mow. I message them and they say oh yea the crew got behind and isn’t coming today. Zero notification in this “convenient” app. I wouldn’t be as upset if they gave some notification. The customer service person started sending me notifications on the app that the mow was getting rescheduled while I was chatting with him. Seriously? Don’t send me notifications when I’m the one notifying you that the crew didn’t come.

Also this app charges way higher than a standard crew so I expect better service like showing up on the day you’re supposed to and notifying me if you’re not. Also the customer service told me they never guarantee any dates for service. Again-why am I paying such a premium then??

    Will be deleting the app.

  • Service was good enough, but app is terrible.

Used this app 4 or 5 times. I’m a landlord so cannot verify job completion without photographs. First two times went smoothly, photos and updates were sent. Last two times, I went into the app to confirm job completion hoping to see photographs. Job was listed as completed, however no photos were supplied (as requested by myself, and as promised in app advertisement materials). The app would not allow me to enter to see the details of the job completion without leaving a compulsory review. How can I review this service without photo proof of completion? The logical thing to do would be to leave no review until I have verified job completion. Once I entered the app, I was able to access photographs. Had I been able to see these photos at the time of leaving my app forced review, my star rating would have been higher. These reviews effect the contractors directly I’m told, so I don’t think Plows n Mows is doing them a favor, requiring compulsory reviews in order to enter app. I suspect the bulk of my complaint is with the app, not the actual service at this stage, however, I didn’t receive messages or texts from contractor. Perhaps some direct communication from contractors would be good, to compensate for the gaps in this awkward app.
