  • Horrible customer service and unfairly terminated account

Resy cancelled all of my reservations and stated my account is terminated with no possibility of reinstatement. All with no warning. Emailed them, and they said it was due to misuse and refused to give more details. I contacted the restaurants myself and found out that Resy’s system thinks I am a bot. The restaurants were more helpful than customer service, and that’s not even their job. I am not a bot lol nor have I ever used one or done anything along the lines of misuse specified by their terms.

Resy also said these are efforts to “safeguard the integrity of our platform and in service of our restaurant partners and Resy users.” If this was actually the case, Resy, then your lackluster team, which I assume might just be automated responses and a faulty algorithm, would actually be able to catch the actual bots and resellers stealing primetime reservations, and not your real users who are just trying to enjoy a good meal. Your software can’t discern literal bots from human users?

Reading other reviews, seems I’m not the only user who has experienced this either. This is really the cherry on top of the app’s TERRIBLE UX as well.

They have no phone number to call, and there is no option to open a case, or even create a new account, as my one phone number is linked to my unfairly banned account. So so frustrating as the majority of restaurants in my area utilize Resy for reservations.

  • Horrible customer service and unfairly terminated account

Got emails saying all of my reservations for the next month are cancelled, and my account is terminated with no possibility of reinstatement. All with no warning! Emailed them, and they said they terminated it due to misuse… basically they think I am a bot.

  • 1 Star App. Deserves Less.

The app is terrible. The support is terrible. The restaurant I chose requires within 15 days out to make reservations. I made a ”Resy” the first day I was allowed to and was in notify status. It stayed in notify status until the day before the date - which is when I called the restaurant. They said they couldn’t help and only Resy could fix the issue they wouldn’t even place another reservation for me saying only Resy could do it. Unbelievable! The restaurant did not have a Resy number I could call. All they had was an email. I also could not find a Resy support number to call. I emailed but never received any support. All I got was a Resy survey! I ended up taking my party to another restaurant using Opentable, which I NEVER had any issues with. This is my first time using Resy. It will be also my last. If there is a restaurant using Resy only, I will call them to see if I can make a reservation over the phone. If they say it has to be through Resy, I will find another restaurant.

  • Friction heavy and not customer centric

Wow Resy is perhaps the most frustrating app I have to engage with on a regular basis. It’s obviously built with restaurants and not customers in mind. You can’t book multiple things in one night so if you want to do cocktails for two hours before dinner at two separate places, forget it. I shouldn’t have the have my dad create a RESY account to get around the system, just so I can do dinner and drinks with him. The sign in process is so friction heavy, why do you need to send codes to verify my email and phone number every time (and yes this is more friction filled then standard two factor). Also it doesn’t allow autofill of simple things like your email, phone number, or password for secure password apps. It also doesn’t support public facing restaurant reviews. But somehow they’ve got charging you down to a very seamless process smh. This is an example of an app that is used because most of us have no choice. Too bad it has to feel so hard to enjoy a good dinner.

  • Resy Alters Your Phone?

On a way to a restaurant reservation made through Resy, while I was driving, I received a text message from Resy that asked me if I wanted Resy to silence my phone while I was dining. Outrage by the implication that Resy would presume to deactivate my phone — after the only thing I did was given them my number — and because I was driving, I ignored it. While waiting to be seated I checked my phone and discovered that it had, in fact, been turned off. I’m a physical on call, and also I have an important reason to keep the line open for an urgent family situation. I’m outraged by the fact that Resy falsely believes that they hav a right to intrude in a unauthorized manner into my private cell phone. I’m also outraged by the fact that Resy has not reached out to me to issue an apology. What have we come to when a third party can legally enter an alter someone’s cell phone? I plan to escalate this in order to find if what Resy as done is legal. And, if it is I will work to change the law. And, if it isn’t I will consider charges. Seriously, Resy. How Dare you?

  • RUINED OUR TRIP!! THE 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE FAKE

I am visiting nyc for the first time and am extremely excited to try the food. I had a bar event booked for the night time and we were extremely excited to book a restaurant for lunch. We woke up at 5 am and waited 10 minutes refreshing the page to get this reservation so we could eat hours before and their website gave us an extremely disturbing error that we would have to cancel our other paid bar top event reservation for later that evening which the times did not conflict at all. I found this to be super disappointing and disturbing. We were looking forward to eating there and just because we booked bar tickets for that evening your website gave us an ultimatum. I don’t know if I will ever be able to visit this place in my life. Extremely disappointed. It ruined our plans and our day and we are devastated. I’m sure our grandparents won wwii so we could be limited to one reservation a day.

  • Plagued by Reservation Resellers

Garbage app until they fix and police account holders that are clearly profiting off of free reservation spots for some of the hottest restaurants in NYC and beyond. There is an entire website and ecosystem dedicated to after market reservations for places in NYC like Charles Prime or Double Chicken. The restaurants get their reservations no matter what and I do not blame them for using a system like Resy. I do blame the 3rd party Resy for not doing more to curb the plague of reservation resellers on their platform that are stealing and profiting off of all of this and leaving normal folks like me completely screwed, and thus forced to give in to paying for these desirable reservation slots if we become that desperate and frustrated. I refuse to believe all reservation time slots are completely full in less than 30 seconds after the day opens for reserving. This is clearly the workings of bots and what you see rampant on similar sites for concerts or product releases. I implore you, Resy, to do better and take accountability in these clear loopholes that are degrading the UX of your platform.

  • Latest update is worthless

I can’t ever remember a time I’ve reviewed an app, but this one in particular has become exponentially worse over the past year by enacting changes that make no sense and clearly make the functionality considerably less effective.

Why worsen the UX experience? Most apps make it easy to find and search for information - but the latest update makes it impossible to easily change dates you’re searching for, requiring multiple, non-intuitive steps to even look for reservations for tomorrow instead of today. It used to be fairly simple to quickly change that view within the same restaurant’s page (like when searching for vacation or holiday reservations that are more timeframe than specific to an exact date). Now I predominantly use google for reservations (which tends to keep a better finger on pulse with functionality, innovation, and UX).

Y’all have enough resources to prevent your branded app experience from being a complete dumpster fire, yet every update makes the experience more and more of a chore for users. Not sure what else you’re investing in since the entire purpose of the company is to service diners/make reservations easier and more accessible - but perhaps a reexamination in those “investments” is a touch overdue.

This app is the epitome of ‘you had one job’

  • Diet OpenTable

Resy isn’t the most stellar reservation app to begin with, most restaurants choose it over open table because it’s roughly the same system for less. Slow, buggy, & unintuitive with no reviews for you to see. But it used to get the job done, search for a restaurant, make your reservation, & go on with your day. However, with this recent update it has been horrendous when to even search for a restaurant. The search button freezes. Calendar is unresponsive when selecting your number of guests, dates, or times, leaving you to waste precious moments especially when trying to snag a reservation at a coveted restaurant who’s availability only exists within a few minutes before they’re fully booked for the entire month(yes, that sits deep with me). It forces you to close and restart the app after it becomes unresponsive after a couple touches. 9/10 that won’t even help. If it weren’t for the restaurants that are on this, I wouldn’t even have a second thought of utilizing the app.
