Terrible for controlling TV

App frequently disconnects from TV.

Upgrade to Gemini to get it to actually respond properly

I use Home Assistant. I will be leaving Google Home ASAP — the ONLY tie left is Nest Audio, which I will be replacing with a more open system that does not depend on Google. Upgrade to Gemini to get to actually play the music you want. But STILL can no longer do multi-room audio after the upgrade — likely requires a speaker-by-speaker factory reset and re-pairing. Not worth it. Will be moving to a system I own and control and can use the AI provider of my choice.

Impossible to Use

This app is making me crazy. I can’t change the screensaver to use my Google albums. The TV tells me to do x,y,z steps on the app, but the app doesn’t give me the option to select x,y, or z. Not intuitive, user friendly, or even useful.

A truly, spectacularly awful app, and a downgrade from previous versions

Update for the latest version: you’ve now made it even worse than stated below by removing the what’s playing banner from the screen. The update has also deleted my speaker groups.
Can’t you do anything right? No wonder people are fearing AI - it’s due to the human developer content.

Google designers appear to have lost their way with this. The point of home automation is to make life easier, but with each new iteration of this app things get worse. What happened to the Media setting which allowed volume control to be adjusted for each device within a group? The problem is every time that music is played through a group, the volume of each device is changed - either louder, or quieter. So frustrating! The app also deletes groups occasionally, and they have to be recreated. Speaking of groups, it’s now impossible to change music to play from a single device to a group.

No longer works and poor customer service

I have a nest thermostat and a year ago my app stopped working. It shows as linked to an account, I can’t re-register it due to this. I have tried getting help to resolve this with no one actually helping. Very frustrating!
