  • Don’t buy their cameras, the app is terrible and makes the camera useless

    Everything is a subscription, the app is absolutely rubbish and has been for years BlackVue 100% are capitalising on the fact that by the time you’re downloading their app it’s already too late for you as you’ve bought their product.

    BlackVue will bleed you dry and give you the worst possible experience in return. You’ll stay because you just dropped $1000 on a camera that’ll go to waste if you don’t.

  • Same problems

    I have the same problems as Touch of Good humor!
    I am a paying customer that has a DR970XBox LTE and immediately I noticed a unit turning on and off, calling the support team I was told to checking my wiring, replace the SD card, they replaced the main unit and it did not fix the problem, purchasing their battery pack as a suggestive fix due to poor power connections and this didn't fix the problem, replace the LTE unit and that didn't fix the problem.
    I stopped using their LTE card and went with T-Mobile and that did not fix the problem. They slowly stopped all email communications.

    When connecting using their app, for some reason, it forgets that I have a unit and I have to go through the entire set up process again and again, I'm disappointed with the picture, I was expecting the best of the best 4K what I have is a dark 2K at best fish eye video.

    The app has a battery indicator that Bluetooth sinks with the battery pack and you're supposed to be able to see how much battery life you have and mine most of time does not work. I have to mainly go in and look at it. And this unit is power hungry it depletes my battery back up within 15-16 hours.

    And they notified me by email that I should contact them for support and that this is not an app issue and I look at the reviews... and some how my last review was deleted!

    Please save your money save your time.. Do not buy Blackvue.

  • Best app for communication with your camera

    They have made some many improvements to the app and to be honest there's no other camera who can offer you all you need in one app they recently made an update and to be honest I stick with BlackVue since 2020 and I'm still their costumer because they are the only ones who offerer this type of security in a car, it's expensive yea but it worth the money, this camera save me probably thousands of dollars, where I live there's some low life people who likes to breaking in to vehicles and cause a lot of damage and this camera save me from that and even a posible murder, right now the suspect is on prison because this camera record 3 channel and I perfectly got him on camera

  • No issues anymore

    The app seems to have been terrible on the past. However I just bought a dash cam and iam very impressed. App is quick and works well. Only buggy thing is setting up lte. If you don’t want lte once in the menu you can’t back out of it. You have to restart the app. Otherwise excellent. Better than Garmin and Akaso by far!

  • wouldn't recommend . App too expensive ?

    Spending about £1000 on a twin camera and a battery pack . The camera does work , most the time I have no problem connecting . however it's very " power Hungary " when in parking mode . Live in the UK and we don't get that many hot days now the summer is here camera spends most of its time disconnected from the network this has nothing to do with the EE network this is because the camera is overheated in the car . Not much I could do about that unless I leave the car windows wide open during the day .
    The camera is pretty useless during night time as it has no infrared so unless you live in a place where there is street lights it's a waste of time... finally I don't think but Pain £8 a month just for the app on its own is worth it .. especially now that everyone has had to change Sim cards to a different provider to as what it was a few months ago . on the brighter side of life I can confirm that the "
    DR970X-2CH LTE (64 GB) UK Edition - 4G " does work perfectly well on the EE network . Much better than the Sim card which was originally provided with the camera and Vodafone which was a total nightmare .
    Would I recommend this camera again . "Probably not " if I'm being honest .. the camera itself Is good , the thing that lets sit down is the LTE , THE CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET AND THE APP WHICH IS ALL PART OF THE PACKAGE ...

  • Terrible

    Hands down the worst customer experience and design ever. Why use wifi as the communication mechanism for a device that is supposed to be in a car where Apple CarPlay is going to be running? You end getting into a continuous battle between trying to connect to the dashcam before your phone connects to CarPlay. Just a terrible experience and shows a lack design for a product that has a premium price tag.

    This connected and played instantly, finally sorted the issues. Ill say it again I can’t believe how fast this app connected and played footage. If I could give it a higher score I would…..DONT MESS IT UP……..

  • Waste of time

    I don’t know what happened to this app it was ok at best before. Now I’m lucky to be able to sign in! And when I’m able to sign in when the stars align in the right pattern I’m not able to play back any video I get playback failure. I reached out to there tech support and he treated me like I am a complete dumas$ didn’t appreciate that I tried to get a older version but no luck on my end but why bother when the app won’t open! I can only hope if I do get in a fender bender that at least the sd card will work or is the system a complete waste of time! I hope they fix there bugs and treat people like they want to be treated!

  • This app just keeps getting worse and worse.

    Very unstable and glitches out when I open the app telling me to add a camera until I click another tab abd then go back to camera. Every time I click anything in the app, there's a long delay and blank screen before it decides to work. I think it's overloaded with junk now and this is most likely the culprit. It used to be a wonderful app before they decided to bastardize it with useless junk. Trying to view the live footage in landscape is also a challenge as the full screen button changes to landscape but the camera window remains the same with lots of empty black space. After 8 to 12 attempts it eventually works. Please do better blackvue!!! 1.5 star average rating should tell you something!!! Wake up!!!

  • Wow SO painful to use

    Update July 2024: the latest firmware has caused the device to NO LONGER upload footage to cloud. This is a massive step backwards. Tech support have tried to suggest elaborate ways to reset the firmware which has not fixed the issue. They acknowledged a cloud issue in JUNE 2024 which caused the problem for users. APPALLING service for what should be great kit, let down by very poor software design.

    Old review May 2022: I rely on this app to check occasional footage but it’s so clunky and unreliable I’m wasting a lot of time. There must be a smarter way to streamline the viewing of footage and importantly connect using BT to the BV’s own wifi. It tries, it fails, it suggested re-adding a camera, it still fails or it doesn’t find the camera etc. Whilst the kit is good the software lets it down totally to the point of wanting to simply throw it away. Come on Blackvue, user experience is what matters here too.
