  • Use Common Sense

I researched dash cams for months and decided on the DR900S-2CH because of the exceptional picture quality. I installed the app and found instantly when pushing the setting button a message instantly popped up saying operation timed out. Ok, so I have to take the card out and pop it into my computer to set up mph and timezone. But then I tried to use the cloud option and it wouldn’t accept the sign-in information I used to register the camera. I then tried the create an account option but then it says there is already an account using my email address. I called support and they told me I have to use two separate email addresses, one for online registration and one for the cloud account. Seriously? Who does that? This is the app you get with a $500 camera? Everyone else comments on the WiFi issue so I leave that on alone.

  • Ads on free plan now!

It was great before the new update. When you get notification of any activities, trying to check live view to see if there is anything going on, then ads start for 15 seconds. By the time you are done with the ads, activities are over and you would have to go to file. It is only for free plan, although, it was not like that before. I guess paying steep price for the camera was not enough for Blackvue to grant free live view. Even when you try to check if the rear camera is working (there were many reported the rear camera disconnected issue), you would have to go through 15 seconds ads. Annoying!

  • Paid A Premium Price for Camera but App Has Ads

I Paid a premium price for my Blackvue camera with cloud functionality and now they are adding Ads to the app if I don’t subscribe to their paid plan. That is crazy that I need to pay additional monthly fee to be able to use the App without Ads even though I already spent several hundred dollars on the camera..

Going to look into Thinkware cameras for my next DashCam, bad money grab by this company.. they will soon find out that Ads don’t make much difference if you start to lose people using the App..

  • Just when it looked like it was improving...

This app was really terrible in its earlier versions and it has since gotten much better. It’s been made more user friendly and has features that are actually useful.

That was until just minutes ago when the latest version added ads to live view and video playback unless you pay. The free plan already has restrictions on it as it is and now ads...so now if you get an alert that something is happening to your car you get to sit there and watch an ad before you can see what’s going on. Nice!

  • Don't buy BlackVue !!

Very bad app that is designed to make you pay for stuff that is normally free. Want to remote connect to the dashcam ? Pay. Want to track your car's location using the GPS that you paid for when buying the dashcam ? Pay. So to get the full potential of this dashcam, you have to pay for a subscription plan on top of the amount that you pay for your hotspot meaning at least $25/mo total. It also won't allow you to connect to the dashcam and the internet at the same time, also to force you to use their cloud service. Companies that try to milk their customers like that fall down easily.

  • No push notifications received since being on IOS 12

Even since being on IOS 12 I no longer receive any event push notifications to my phone, even when my DR900S 1CH is connected to the cloud. There is not even an option to allow background refresh for this app in the phone settings menu under Background App Refresh. The app is not on the list to even allow/deny any background app refresh. If this cannot be corrected soon I will cancel the subscription for the over the cloud service that costs $20 a month! Not worth the price if I cannot even get notifications while away from my car!

Everything else about the app and camera itself works very well.

  • Absolute Junk

When you buy a BlackVue Camera and it continually disconnects itself from a fully functional mobile hotspot having a rock solid connection, you have been ripped off. Period. The DR750s from BlackVue is NOT READY for the market. Period.

I’ve had the 650s and now the 750s and they both cannot maintain a stable connection to the BackVue cloud server for more than a day. They repeatedly disconnect from the Hotspot and thus the BlackVue cloud server making them both absolutely useless as so-called Cloud Enabled camera’s.

I could have paid hundreds of dollars less for cameras that actually do what the manufacturer promises.

Instead of wasting time with software upgrade features that don’t matter nearly as much as base functionality, BlackVue as a company would spend their resources better by developing a stable Cloud Connected Camera System as advertised. One that actually works as Advertised.

What a colossal waste of good money chasing after a bad product not ready for prime time. I feel ripped off by BlackVue.

  • Good App, Works well. Great Camera

So this app is not perfect. But I definitely think it deserves much more than 2.1 stars (at the time of writing). It’s good in general. I really don’t see any real issues with it. The WiFi issue mentioned in the other reviews is definitely the most inconvenient feature of the app I guess if I was to say. But this may be more of a side effect of the camera’s design itself as opposed to the app. I have resorted to turning WiFi off when I enter my car. But it doesn’t bug me as much anymore since it’s a quick swipe up on the iPhone and I don’t think about it. The app really never crashes on me, and at the time of writing they release plenty of updates regularly claiming to fix any bugs...App allows me to change any option I would care for on the camera. Recording length is dependent on your SD card and I currently have mine set to 3 min which I think is ideal. Also I like how the app has the library of videos downloaded from the camera in a separate section, allowing me to quickly access any vids I have saved on my phone. But yeah really like the camera (750s-2ch) it has recorded some interesting sights, and I think the app works well to manage it.

  • Responsive!

I recently bought a BlackVue camera. Got it installed and working. Sadly I installed it upside down. I emailed and asked how to flip the picture. They replied and said “not possible right now, but we will add it to the request list” that was 10 days ago or so. Now...it’s here! Quick response.
The app overall is decent and I like the camera and functionality. Planning on picking up one for all our cars. They are a bit pricey so this may take several months....but I think it will be very protective in today’s world.

  • Cannot stream Pandora when connected to Blackvue

When the phone and camera are connected using WiFi, Pandora and any other app requiring a data connection cannot be used. This included attempting to use the cell network connection. When the phone is talking to the camera, nothing else works.

Would also like to see the ability to turn the camera on and off without unplugging it.

The speaker on my camera is set to the highest volume. However, the voice is still to low to hear what is being said. Playing back a video clip seems to be fine. It’s the external speaker on the camera that functions very poor. This is highly disappointing for an expensive camera.
