Needs major work

This app has some things that work well. Some things that need improvement by who sets the products up, and some things that are so bad that the developer should be fired for leaving it this way for so long.

It’s easy to select the products you want to buy. The payment system seems to work as expected. You can do some customizations well, others are confusing, others are impossible. I should be able to put buttermilk sauce on my taco if I want. I should be able to make a classic chicken with ground beef or pepper jack cheese. Can I add beans to a quesadilla? Not sure.

Finally there are major bugs that have been there since the beginning. If I build my order and back out for any reason (like checking which coupons are available), I have to start over from the very beginning. Choosing locations is a pain.

Confusing Rewards System

Not user friendly. With other fast food apps, when you select a reward, it automatically gets added to your order and you get to enjoy a free food item. With this app, selecting a reward item only pre-selects it and you have a certain number of days to use it. So after going through the drive thru, you realize that your free food item is missing because you never selected it. You only pre-selected it. You have to remember to pre-select it, and then when you go to pay, re-select it again. I’m not sure why I have to select it twice. If I’m in the app, I obviously want the food item now. Not sometime within the next 30 days. What if I change my mind about what I want to spend my reward points on within those 30 days? Selecting a reward item should automatically add it to today’s order. Just my two cents as someone who likes using different fast food apps.

DelTaco App

App will not allow me to use my offers either on line or in person! The store manager keeps telling me that there’s a problem with the app! She does not appear to have the ability to adjust the purchase price to give us the food we are trying to get. This only happens with newest update! This has been going on for over a month now. Why can’t I use my offers? I feel like you are cheating me! I’m a regular customer and I’m a disabled senior citizen on a fixed income from Social Security so it’s hard for me to cook at home. My husband is disabled also. We love your food but will be going to Wendy’s or Subway they always accept the promotions!!! Joan Gordon

Cannot Order in Advance

Though the app lets you make an order and inform the restaurant that you’re there, most locations seem to make the order immediately. I prefer to make an order earlier in the day, then pick it up in the evening. By the time I’m there, the food is already hours old, cold and soggy. I might as well order in person to ensure the food is fresh. This app seriously needs to use the system most other food apps use, which is to schedule a time in advance, or NOT put the order into their system until you tap “I’m Here” to minimize these incidents occurring.

I also have several locations I visit, depending on what I’m doing at the moment and when I decide to visit. The app seems really fixated on one default location. The nearest location near work is not the same as the nearest location near home, and there are at least three other Del Taco locations in between.

Also, the “App Feedback” button doesn’t work, which is why I’m putting this up here.

A very confusing and frustrating app.

As soon as I finally think I have this app figured out with rewards, I realize I don’t. This is one of the most confusing food apps I’ve used if you want the “loaded” deals or the rewards. It would be great if I could just finally figure this out. The only reason I keep coming back and keep trying is because I love Del Taco and I just want the app to make sense. If your placing a straight forward order, everything is fine. But when the rewards start coming into play, it can get very confusing. Im trying to do a simple “loaded rewards” buy one get one free. So I order 1 taco and apply the “loaded reward” before I pay. But then on the final pay screen, it shows only 1 taco when it should say 2 (or 1 free). So I cancel and do it again but this time order 2 tacos, hoping one of them will be free once I apply the “loaded” reward before I pay. But then at the end it shows I paid for 2 tacos when one of them should’ve been free. Come on Del Taco please do something about to make this easier or explain what exactly needs to be done in this situation when an award is applied.

Works OK

The app works fine for placing an order and for customizing. I have never arrived at the restaurant and had to wait, and so far there haven’t been any major errors. The one fault is the “rewards” system which, to date, has not netted me one bonus item. Selecting a reward results in points being deducted but not an item in my cart. Attempts to add the item manually results in the item appearing in my cart at the regular price. Attempting to select rewards before or after I put other items results in the same lack of rewards. Your mileage may vary, but as far as I can tell the system simply does nothing and I have give up on trying.

Developers always breaking apps…

This used to be a good app. Sure, it wasn’t perfect, but it worked. Now it won’t let me pay. Every time I try to check out, I get, “ We are currently unable to take your order. Please check your payment information and try again.” I have tried multiple credit cards, I’ve signed out and logged back in, and I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it. Nothing has worked. I can’t use rewards, and I can’t take advantage of the anniversary deal. I don’t know where to go from here.

Forget trying to contact anyone at Del Taco. There is no customer service to be found in the app or on their website. The link I found to actually file a report was an outdated and invalid link. Nothing. No support, and now time keeps ticking away on the Anniversary snack tacos that you can only order in the app.

Don’t bother with this current version of the app, it obviously doesn’t work.

App has a glitch

I’ve wasted over 30 minutes tonight trying to put my delivery order in and the app’s not submitting my order. So as of right now, they just lost over a $20 order. The app is automatically adding a 15% tip no matter what. It will not let me change the amount to go higher or lower. When I push check out, it tells me not to forget to put a tip and it will not submit my order. How much tip am I supposed to put in there in order for it to submit. I went to 25%, and it did not change the bottom total of the tip and still would not submit my order because it wanted me to add a tip. Wow. I wasted all this time, and now end up with no food.
Also, the app lets you customize a few items, but not everything. It doesn’t let you customize the drinks at all. Some people like extra ice in their soda, and others, like me prefer light ice in my soda or iced coffee.

Customer Support NON-EXISTENT

The support in this app is quite possibly the worst of any of the fast food companies. You guys could learn a lot from Burger King and Popeyes, because obviously their parent demands service to their customers. You guys are an unmitigated disaster.

First of all, when you go to Support and it asks for a general problem, general means just that, general , the opposite of specific. Yet your drill down requires you to select a time and date that you visited the restaurant. GENERAL!! Not specific!!

I'm missing 1200 points. Your app now shows that I only have one cancelled order, no completed ones. In 2 years. Ok. Good luck trying to get anyone to respond because you have to say what restaurant you went to. GENERAL. Not specific.

Also when you go to login or create an account with Facebook error occurs that the app is not connected and that the developers are aware of this. I doubt the developers are aware of anything.

It might be time to stop having your 12 year old children working on this app and hire a real developer.

Need to be able to review bag & use ApplePay

By and large, I like the Del Taco app. Overall, I think it’s user friendly. However, recently I’ve lost the ability to review my bag before I finalize my order which is a pretty big hindrance for a food ordering app. I can see the number of items in my bag but that’s LITERALLY it before I checkout. What if I want to remove an item? What if I want to ensure I applied all my modifications? What if I’m not sure I actually included an item? Apparently, I can no longer do any of those things. I literally have to restart the app and start my order from scratch if I want to make changes, which is a really big hassle. I also can’t see my total prior to checking out, which, let’s be honest, is a big deal for a lot of Del Taco’s target demographic. And not having ApplePay? Well, that’s just annoying. Despite those things, I do still enjoy the app.
