Description of Recurrence

Recurrence helps you manage and track everything relating to the repeating tasks in your life so you never miss a thing again. Recurrence is more than just another app that reminds you what needs to be done — it tracks what you did, too. An example: you have a pet that needs medication. Maybe it needs checkups at the vet, too. Recurrence can remind you when you need to do give it the medication it needs as well as to arrange a visit to the vet, all while tracking things from past ones — what it weighed during the last visit, which medication was prescribed, and anything else you think might be handy! By changing the way you think about reminders and repeating tasks, Recurrence becomes more than an app that reminds you to do things — it becomes the place that tracks your entire life as well. Recurrence features include: ◆ Task tracking and customizable repeats Create tasks that repeat when you need them to with customizable options including a lock that prevents a task from being checked off before it's ready. ◆ Task sharing iCloud sharing support so you can complete items with a spouse, friend, or family members. ◆ Task organization Add tags and more to your tasks and then use advanced filtering options so you'll always be able to find the tasks you're looking for. Or just search, it's up to you! ◆ Task customization Tasks can be configured to show all kinds of information including the number of occurrences, the last completion, notes, and more. ◆ Siri Shortcut support Mark tasks as completed using nothing but your voice. ◆ Full task history and notes You'll see when tasks were completed as well as notes from each completion, great for tasks that you want to keep a track of over time. ◆ Full widget support Now you can see your recurring tasks right on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. ◆ Cross-device support Your tasks follow you from iPhone to iPad to Mac and back again with seamless syncing. Recurrence is a free download with ad support and a five-task limit. Remove ads and unlock unlimited tasks with Recurrence Premium — available as a monthly or annual subscription, or lifetime purchase. Premium subscriptions can be canceled at any time, but will renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the next payment is due. • Almost perfect

The idea of the app is great and is exactly what I was looking for, but I tend to not use it very often only because of one feature. When a task is overdue, after you complete that item, it should reset and no longer be overdue but instead it stays overdue until you mark it complete a certain number of times. For example: I have a weekly task of “Vacumm” and I have it scheduled to reoccur weekly. I skip this task for an entire month (4 weeks) and then decide to vacuum this week and mark it as done. Instead of resetting and making the task due again next week, it stays in the overdue category until I mark it done for each week it’s overdue, so in this case 4 times. For weekly, monthly, and yearly tasks it isn’t such a big deal, but I have a lot of daily tasks on the app and if I have a depression period and don’t mark things as done for a month, I have to check all of my daily tasks 30 times until it moves to the “due” category. It’s just frustrating because I got this app to help me get back on track after I have depressive episodes, but the idea of marking each of my daily tasks 30 times to reset them overwhelms me and I end up not using the app at all. I would really like to see an option to have tasks reset back to “due” after marking them complete no matter how long overdue they are.

Thanks for the feedback! Not quite what you’re looking for but wanted to mention in case it’s helpful! When creating a task, you can choose the repeat type of “From Last Completion” with an interval of 7 days (or whatever you like). This repetition style doesn’t create a backlog of tasks if you miss multiple weeks. I’ve added to my backlog your request for more control over the current repeat behavior.
  • Stellar app

I'm not the type to leave reviews, but this app really deserves it. Absolutely phenomenal. Full disclosure, I do have the paid subscription. As a person with ADHD, having a widget that lets me tick of tasks directly on my home screen is a life saver. I have everything from chores to medication to reminders to rotate my passwords. One of the best features is that I can look at my history on a task to see how often I'm actually doing it. This has been incredibly helpful for tracking when I take as-needed medications.

Absolutely my favorite habit tracking app, hands down.
  • Can’t get notifications to work.

I recently downloaded Recurrence. It seemed like a great idea. But I’ve enabled all notifications in the app and on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Recurrence has all permissions granted to display and sound notifications. But nothing happens. This renders the app useless to me. I only notice my missed tasks when I open the act. If someone could help me to fix the notification issue and the app starts functioning properly I’ll raise my rating. But now the app is useless to me. I’ve subscribed for nothing.
