  • Their “guarantee” is not a guarantee

I have been a customer with this company for over a decade. For the most part, the gift cards I purchased worked out well. Then, I purchased a few gift cards for the same company expecting to use them to purchase holiday gifts. I ended up trying to sell them back due to unexpectedly high shipping costs without ever attempting to use them. A couple of them sold. Then I got a notification that the cards I sold were invalid and that the buyer would be refunded from my account. I was fine with that because the company always advertised that they would guarantee the value of the gift cards for one year and refund you if there were ever an issue. In turn, I tried to exercise the very same guarantee because the gift cards that I purchased were invalid. As soon as I reported all of them invalid, the company shut down my account due to attempting to sell too many invalid gift cards, gift cards that I purchased through their app. After multiple emails sent to the company and after receiving many generic and uninformative emails in response, my account is still down and it seems like I won’t be getting that refund I deserve. It appears that this company does not care about customer loyalty and they do not honor their guarantees. It’s unfortunate that you can’t report them to the BBB because they don’t even have a physical address listed on their website, probably on purpose. I’m just disappointed because I used to love using this app.

  • This app is a joke

I’ve used this app for a few years without an issue. I actually enjoyed using it and it became my go-to app every time I wanted to pay for something that takes gift cards. Never really had an issue. Recently I wanted to make a larger gift card purchase and it locked my account. Okay it happens sometimes, I give them a call but nobody answers. They literally have no reps that answer phone calls; you have to either leave them a voicemail or email them. I emailed them and they got back to me reasonably quickly and said my account was restored and there should be no problem. I try again later that night and it gets locked again! Believe it or not I had to message them 7 or 8 times and every time they told me I should now be good to use my account, and it got locked again. It is still currently locked and a developer reached out and told me to stop trying to spend so much! On a cash back app. Where you buy gift cards. Where they get a percentage of my purchase. It’s really bizarre and I missed some sales I was going to shop because of this nonsense. Same things going on with Raise. Never again.
  • App is not protected! You will lose $$$

I use a lot of different cash back apps and have always had wonderful customer experience if I ever had a problem with my account. I cannot say that about slide. I purchased a $75 gift card for Lowe’s on the slide app. When I tried to use it showed a zero balance. I contacted Slide thinking that there may have been a glitch in the numbers however they indicated that if they gift card shows used that they cannot provide me a refund and contact the vendor directly. So after an hour and a half on the phone with Lowe’s I find out that the gift card was used at a New Orleans store (I live in Maine…). I then reach back out to slide with information that Lowe’s provided me and they still cannot provide me a refund or new gift card.
This app is not protected at all and would strongly recommend using a different cash back app. In the end instead of gaining money from buying a gift card I lost $75. Absolutely ridiculous!
  • Awful App

I didn’t even get a chance to use this. I went to make my first purchase and it gave me an error. Then the app locked up and said my account was suspended and I needed to contact support to verify it. Okay fine no problem. Support responds back that I need to verify my identity. I submitted my id and selfie (which is me) only for them to tell me they deactivated my account but won’t tell me why and they can do that. Ummm, what? I didn’t exactly do anything with your app yet to cause an issue or anything. I’m who I say I am. All I tried to do was buy a gift card. This seems like a lot of hassle to just buy a discounted gift card. I don’t know what I could have possibly done wrong to get suspended permanently when I haven’t even been able to buy anything yet! Ridiculous and seems scammy
  • Absolute Game Changer

If you order off any site. Use this app, they have cash back on almost everything from 1% to 10% it’s like a credit card without the debt!
  • My fav cash back app

Slide has become my fav cash back app. My only problem was with Subway (twice). The first time I tried to use it was at Subway. The cashier wouldn’t enter the gift card number. Said I had to scan it myself. It kept trying to pay with Apple Pay, which I don’t use, so there was “insufficient funds”. I scanned and paid with my credit card. It actually went thru my cc twice, once thru Slide and once thru my Subway. It used it 4 or 5 times after that at other stores just fine. So I figured since Subway was my first time using it, I was doing something wrong so I tried it again. Same thing. Paid twice again. I told him he needed to manually enter the card number but he refused to. Slide did refund my payment both times but I now refuse to use it at a fast food restaurant.
  • Change for the Worse

Their update in late August was the nail in the coffin in for me - no longer do they offer a straight 4% cash back - instead it now varies between 1-10% depending on the retailer. As you might expect, 10% is rare to come by, and now those places I was used to get 4% cash back are now on the low end (as are most “popular” stores). Slide attempted to be different from a cash back site by offering a flat cash back - now they are just like everybody else. I’ll be cashing out my credit and sunsetting the app shortly.
  • Took away all the best cash back companies, lowered percentages of cash back with newest update

I used to love slide, would rave about it to everyone.

Now, I don’t think I will use it anymore.

Sadly, Slide took away the best companies cash back from 4 to 1%, like EBay, Uber, and Lyft rendering it to now be less than what you would get from your own credit card, thus de-incentivizing users to use the app. This is a very poor “business” move. With this implementation you’ll lose a lot of loyal customers, starting with/including me.
  • Going Downhill

This app used to be good, when it worked. Every time you load funds it locks your account and you have to call to unlock, but here’s the catch, nobody is there on the weekends or evenings to help. Then other times you’re able to add funds but when buying a gift card you get another lock! Why have this horrible system in place to prevent people from using your app?! Your money is literally held hostage until support reopens after their long weekend. If you’re going to hold on to peoples money you need to have weekend and evening support, completely unacceptable. This has happened multiple times to me and I’m finally just withdrawing all my money and cashing out. Let me know when these issues are fixed and I’ll be back as the concept was great, just poor execution.

UPDATE: Problems with this app have still not been resolved. Constant locking of accounts and holding money hostage until they can get around to unlocking. Be careful of the shady practices of this app.

  • Unacceptably unreliable as a payment method

I have completed 10 transactions on Slide. For three of those transactions, my account was locked in the process and I had to call to get it unlocked. That is a 33% failure rate. During one of those failures, I was standing at the register in the store trying to pay. Imagine if your credit card only went through two out of every three times. That is flaky and unreliable. To clarify, my Slide account is low fraud risk. I always shop at the same stores. I always use Apple Pay to load my account. Also, it can’t be a credit card problem because the last failure happened when I was paying with Slide credit. I can no longer trust that this app will work when I need to pay.
