  • Only 1 week in so far…

and for the m͟o͟s͟t͟ p̲a͟r͟t͟ I’m feeling secure in my purchase of these 2 Mila units. These are the first full-size standalone air purifiers I’ve ever owned, so I’m not sure if the critiques I have are typical of air purifiers in general. I find it a little rigid and unrealistic to not be able to tweak or adjust the parameters of “good”, “moderate” etc, depending on where you live or what the season/outside temp is. Why must a “good” temperature reading fit between 68°-72°? I get that WARMER can be problematic, but I don’t understand why my bedroom being 65° is such an issue. The alerts about it are blowing up my phone! You’d think it were detecting a gas leak & I’m moments away from dying from asphyxiation. I don’t want to turn the alerts OFF because I d͟o͟ want to be notified should there be legitimate causes for concern. I live in Dallas, where the outside humidity is pretty much always uncomfortably high, year round. And I live in an older, 2-story house with wall to wall carpeting. The only way to keep my INDOOR humidity down within what is considered a “good” range is to constantly have my AC running…but then that triggers the temperature alerts! Aside from these issues, I’m pleased with everything else so far. Packaging & presentation were top notch, as was the ease of initial setup and app pairing.

  • Good product and app with an improvement…

Great product. Very good app. Would be improved with biometric login. Please can the developers add this to the queue? That would take it from 4 stars to 5 stars 😁 (15th October 2023)
  • BUYER BEWARE

I purchased two in the original kickstarter campaign, and I received them about 3 years ago. They worked.. okay? For a while. They did often do really weird things, sometimes sensing very poor air quality and going into hyperdrive randomly for no reason - to test it out I put our other one and our Dyson nearby to see if they sensed anything similar (they didn’t).

Over the last week and a half, both of my Milas completely stopped working. They won’t even turn on. After the first one died, tech support said, “try plugging it in somewhere else!” And “are you sure the power cord is plugged in all the way?” And “try flicking the power switch rapidly.” And finally, “your Mila is out of warranty. We can offer you $100 off a new Mila.” That was 3 days ago, and they haven’t answered another message since.

You’re joking, right? You can’t offer a meaningful repair attempt, and you think I want to buy another one expensive purifier that will probably be landfill-bound in 3 years?
Even better - I have two $$$ brand new filters that I can’t use because both units almost simultaneously died. What a waste.

Save the headache and buy a better established brand with more responsive customer service.

  • Filter

If you use their automated filter replacement subscription beware! They charge you for your filter but don’t send it to you! They told me it’s because they don’t have it in stock but I still got charged and still haven’t received a filter!!!!
  • Make sure you live close to an AQI station

My mila worked well when I lived close to an AQI station (near a hospital) and after I moved away it says the closest AQI station is 180km away (very suspect) so I’m not getting an accurate outside reading at all. There’s a huge forest fire close by and it’s saying that the AQI is 0 😂. I literally can feel and smell the smoke.

  • Great purchase

I bought 2 mila’s for my home and so happy with them. We’ve had awful forest fire smoke all summer and these have let me breathe my house has been my oasis! Definitely recommend!
  • Excellent Hardware, Software, and Customer Service

It is rare that an electronic device hits all three major things that make a great product, but Mila delivers on all of them, so consistently and with a level of excellence that is awe-inspiring. The app itself is fantastic. It’s easy to change settings, see patterns in indoor and outdoor air quality, and get notified when there’s a sharp change in AQI. I particular like the manual settings for Whitenoise and Sleep. It’s almost like you have an additional sound machine along with an air filter. The software is so perfectly integrated with the hardware in ways like this.

Customer service is always excellent - their staff really cares about the customer and works with you if any issues arise with friendliness and professionalism.

I know it might be hyperbolic talking about an air filter in this way, but darnit, it’s just that good of a device. You will not regret getting one.

@dancewithoutme - ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for the love and for taking the time to share your experience so far! Totally made our day and thanks for trusting us with the air you breathe.
  • Good hardware bad software

The filter is great. The App is so buggy I can’t be asked to bother with it anymore and just use controls on the unit even thought they are basic. But as an air filter it’s great and that’s what it’s for.

@sl13579 - glad to hear that your Milas have been hard at work for you but sorry to hear that you've had some issues with the app! Could you please send us a note at support@milacares.com so we can take a closer look for you?
  • Marvelous on iOS. Now for iPadOS?

Happy Mila owner here, loving the update and the widgets are perfection. Any chance of an iPadOS version? I’d love to see the same parts and pieces from the iOS version simply “written” across the screen similarly to how widgets in the OS at large simply tumble about when you rotate the device. Just as importantly, having access to the new widgets in iPadOS would be huge, as the iPad is a natural dashboard. Thanks!

  • Very upset

I purchased my Mila in 2022 and it shipped in July 2022. I have had an issue with the screen not responding to touch and cannot connect the unit to the app, make any adjustments, see the status or control the unit in any way. The only time the screen comes on is if the unit is unplugged and plugged back in. It is under warranty BUT they are only sending auto response emails to me for the many times I have reached out to try to file a warranty claim. Further, I asked to cancel the auto ship filter they said they were sending and yet, I was charged for that filter today. (Days after asking that it not be sent for a malfunctioning unit)
At this point, I would like my money back since customer service and warranty claims are obviously not important to them. I don’t want or need a $99 filter for something that isn’t working.
They only allow emails to a “support” email address and that only sends robo response emails back to you with no follow through in the well over 24 hour time period they claim to honor.

Don’t buy it! Costs too much to have zero support for the purchase.
