Says they’ll add WiFi network select soon

Update: It’s Jan ‘23 and they promised to add the feature that missing and needed that is complained about below:
I just wanted to connect to a dedicated 2.4ghz network since it’s so finicky with dual band networks. The ability to change WiFi network is all I need to give this 5 stars. The rest is “fine”

DO NOT DOWNLOAD

This is hands down the worst version 2 of any software I have ever interacted with. I’m tech savvy and I feel like hitting my head everytime I want to make a change. I can see being even frustrating for people who aren’t! Why was this change made this way?

V1 wasn’t all that, but it was straightforward.

- Once you group devices together, you can’t view each individual device info (like IP address) unless you ungroup them

- Looking for an individual device settings? Tough luck, it’s hidden under a tiny toggle top left of the screen

- They put the devices toggle on the Home Screen so if you are flipping through screens, you are going to turn something you don’t want to turn off

- Most settings have been hidden for who knows why

- Why put a button on a screen when it doesn’t work? When you press it, it says coming soon!! For f sake, why? What about showing it when it works?????

- Speaking of which, Wiz Advisor, shows nothing

- I added a sensor to a room and want to disable it. Tough luck, can’t find the disable button

The list is endless. This is an unfinished application and need to be removed from the store. It doesn’t work

This app doesn’t work

The old app was fine. I had it set up and knew how to use it. At this point I have put hours into setting up this new one only for it to tell me it’s offline half the time so the only lights I can use are the preset ons and offs. It won’t stay connected. I set rhythms and they don’t work. I have far less functionality than before. 90% of the times I try to go in to put it on dim or night light it doesn’t work. It seems random when it decides to. Basically, I have a regular non-smart lamp that i have to switch on and off manually. I was so happy with it in the old app when it worked! I only got to enjoy it for a month or so.

PLEASE FIX THESE PROBLEMS SO I CAN USE MY LIGHT.

I’m just going to keep updating this review. Today, I tried to use my light. NOPE!!! The same old no connection issue.

Tried to add the widget you advertise to see if that would work. It didn’t work, what a surprise! It just opens the app, which then doesn’t work. It works once in a while though!

I had recommended this to friends before the “update.” I hope none of them got it!

Are you guys the suckiest coders on the planet? Because you seem like the suckiest coders on the planet.

Wiz v2 should’ve been an option.

Since I’ve migrated to the new app, I’ve not been able to connect my bulbs to my internet. They worked perfectly fine on the original app and now I’m not able to use my Alexa’s with them to dim the lighting to certain modes in my sons room at night it’s either super bright or just off. It isn’t the end of the world but is a complete inconvenience. It continues to tell me the bulbs are connected then when I try to turn them on or off it’ll tell me they have to be connected to the internet and when I try to with the smart pairing it does nothing. Then when I try to do it manual, again it does nothing. I truly have no clue why I was forced to migrate to the v2 app if the original worked perfectly fine.

Terrible

The new app over the old one is terrible. The new UI is poorly executed and found drop-down Menus in the app that lead to no where, about one day into using the new app, it decides to disconnect my lightbulb and sign me in to my apple account, meaning I cannot connect the old lightbulb, since it is linked to the wiz account. The new layouts are terrible and uneven, and worst of all, once you download the new app, it will NOT let you even open the old app.
Terrible, and the company should be embarrassed to take a overall great experience with the first app and turn it into a hollow corporate trashy shell.

V2 much worse than v1

I “upgraded” to v2 and it has not been a great experience. It’s many more clicks to use my scenes, and on two separate occasions, I’ve had to sign up again because it decided I wasn’t logged in. This feels like a perfect example of a product manager getting rewarded for shipping, something new, without having any thought to the usability of the product. Extremely disappointing.

Update: the developer responded that I should contact support. The problem is not support, or me not knowing how to use the app, the problem is the user interface. I can turn my lights on in my office with only three clicks now (it used to be one). Turning them off requires going to a completely different screen. I mean, come on. The developer should be required to use this app to turn their own office lights off and on - they might actually think about what users need then.

Please listen to all of the people on here who are complaining about user interface design. Hire someone who can design a useful experience.

Update to my original review!

Had everything working just fine on the initial app. Automatically migrated to the V2 app and now I cannot control different lights within groups/rooms. I watched the 45 minute WIZ V2 video and the V2 app in their video doesn’t look anything like my V2 app. Went through all of the help center options and nothing worked. Deleting the app and removing approximately 25 WIZ lights and going with a competitor. They took something that worked just fine and ruined it… Wasted my money!

Update: Although I contacted customer service through multiple resources I did not receive a response until much later and the response was “You cannot control separate lights in a group”, with that said, I deleted the app and the reinstalled it. This DID allow me to control different lights in a group. However, I had to reinstall and reconnect every lightbulb in my house. Having about 25 WIZ lights it took a while but everything seems to be working the way it is supposed to and I haven’t had any issues since. Updating my rating to four stars. This should have been considered and addressed prior to the release if the V2 app.

Clunkier and More Connections issues than Original

The 2nd version of the app so far has so many more bugs and overall runs slower with a low more pressing and sliding just to do simple task that only requires one swipe on the first app. Im deleting this app and redownloading the original one cause it’s taken me 30 minutes to connect my bulbs on this version rather than the quick 5 minute set up of the first one. Don’t use this app. Does have a more visually pleasing interface but way worse functionality.

Easier Manual Pairing

I was about ready to throw my WiZ Phillips bulb in the garbage and forget it but at the last moment I upgraded to the new version of the WiZ app and I was able to pair the bulb with my Google mesh network. I think the most frustrating element of the Wiz bulbs is pairing them with your network.
I have been using this one bulb for over a year without any problems. Then I upgraded my network to a Google mesh system. Some routers will not allow you to distinguish the 2.4 from the 5 GHz bands by naming them with separate SiDs. And if you have an iOS device there is no easy way to tell it to connect to only the 2.4 GHz band. What a pain in the rear!
Thank you for making the manual pairing mode better.

Two Wiz Apps?

So are you going to continue to develop two mediocre Wiz apps, or maybe drop one and focus on making one great app? I’d like to just use one app, and would like to know which one I should use.

Edit: The developer informed me in their response that Wiz 2 is still in beta and hasn’t officially launched. For some reason I thought it did, leaving us with two half working lolpppuuiiiiiiapps. So I bumped it to a 3 until it’s just one finished app.

P.S. Would love to see HomeKit integration!! Matter maybe? Thread in the be
