  • Terrible app

    I have had multiple problems while checking in for my flight on the app. Going in coming from New Zealand you can check in for your flight 24 hours before the flight the app would not let me check in and I had to check in at the airport at the New Zealand desk. I leave tomorrow less than 24 hours the app will still not let me, check in for my flight even though I’m using Zealand VPN it says that my flight check-in is not open yet. I will have to check in at the airport yet again.

  • Actual use during travel disappointment

    - doesn’t remember participating airline membership numbers previously entered via the web based site
    - doesn’t connect the required departure ticket information for international travelers, which prevents the online check in process from completing. - even though our departure ticket was also an Air New Zealand flight.

  • App is quirky

    The app is quirky and less developed than other airlines. For example I had a seat assigned when I got the ticket but I tried two different days to see if there were any seats available that I preferred and the app would not let me check only saying that it was not available and I would have a seat assigned at checkin. When checking in for the boarding pass o got the same message. The availability to check any entry requirements from the app also kept sending me to strange pages that were not related. Another issue on check in it asks you to verify information (date of birth and date of passport expiry and passport number) but then masks it with asterisks so the only way to check it is to edit it to make sure the correct data is there.

    Overall I would use another airline if available rather than NZA. This is what happens when it becomes more important for an airline to sell other non airline related items such as airport transfers and cars and hotels instead of putting development money in their core business.

  • Waste of time

    Just spent almost an hour trying to book via the Air NZ app. At the last moment when it was time to pay the app rejected my booking saying I need to call Air NZ to finish the booking, which will incur an additional fee. What a waste of my time as a consumer. It seems that time after time these awful companies create fat corporate cats at the expense of consumers. We constantly have to deal with increasing fees and awful wastages of time navigating websites and apps that are dysfunctional and quite frankly anger inducing. Now I have to wait for a customer service rep from Air NZ to call me back and I have to be polite to them, which I will be. But I can understand others that might yell and abuse customer service reps. It’s because Air NZ doesn’t really care about providing the best customer service possible. They only care about charging me extra dollars here and there for seat selection, an extra card fee at check out to bring my final total up a few hundred dollars. That’s what they really care about. Not us. Not the passengers. Unless you fly business or premium economy. Even with air travel it’s the haves and have nots. It’s all about money. That’s all these airlines want. What’s in my wallet. They don’t care about anyone or anything. Our time is worthless to them. Our dignity is worthless. Money talks in NZ. Nothing else matters anymore.

  • Worst customer service ever

    Flight cancelled this morning and automatically rebooked on flight that won’t work for my international connection. Tried to book other flight which wouldn’t work via app or website. Ended up booking with another airline and tried to cancel flight for refund and unable to do via app, website or in-person at airport. Wasted an hour with no resolution and had to book another carrier for 2x the amount. Disputing charge through credit card.

  • Disappointing customer service

    I was unable to make my November flight from Aukland to Queenstown. I spent 3 hours on hold the day of the flight before giving up and emailing. Over the course of several months I was told the flight would be refunded then about a month ago I was told that I would receive a credit for future travel. Now, nearly 6 months after the scheduled November flight still no evidence of a credit.

  • Only works if you have air points

    This app only seems to work for people who are members of Airpoints, the frequent flier program. Anyone who does not have airpoints cannot use the app. Since I don’t have Airpoints, the app is no use to me (even though I spend thousands of dollars a year flying airNz).

    It was very straightforward to change our flight due to inclement weather conditions.
  • Stay away

    Your app is not working at all. I have been trying since 2 days to get myself seat assignment. Everytime, it will end up as error and will ask to contact customer service. Worst thing, nobody is there to respond on phone. It hung up Everytime. Your Oscar chatbot is not working. You are not responding to Facebook chat or Whatsapp chat. Absolutely bogus service. Dint expect such service from national star alliance airline.

  • Better than Expected

    Haven't actually departed yet, but so far, customer service, as well as the functionality of the app have been great!
