  • After all these years,

I finally got my 2019 D3 to connect to this app on iPhone. Today it took 3 tries. I turned off cellular data as a reviewer suggested, no idea if that helped. D3 responds to app commands. Wanted to download update, but that doesn’t work. Chat said it was a recent problem and support was working on it… My literature said you could manually update, but Chat said through app only. Havent tried zone cleaning, don’t plan to. Also wanted info on battery replacement requirements. (My old XV11 (Luv it) has special requirements. Run new battery Completely down/recharge 3 times to condition, then good to go.) With D3 support said do hard reset -power button plus right bumper to turn off—put in batt and charge overnight, good to go.

    UPDATE
today i tried to connect to see if i could download update. Unable to connect successfully to wifi. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Over and over, etc etc. never connected. Done.

  • Can’t login?

If you can’t login it’s because Neato broke the accounts. There is no way of resetting your password too! To this this you need to call them, they can’t do it by email or chat. Massive faff but it means you can get back into your account. Other than the account problems, the robot is good and is very useful. Especially, when people are about to come over.

  • Update the app!!

I loved this vacuum when I first got it 3 years ago…. Now it drives me insane. It’s constantly going in circles! I have cleaned the sensors, moved the charge station and manual restarted it and it still does it! You guys really need to update this!
  • Nothing but frustration.

Nothing but frustrating. It’s a great concept and the vacuums are absolutely superior to anything else on the market. But the constant reprogram required because of the slightest in-continuity or internet, or when switching routers, or turning off your controlling device, or logging out of the app. It can take HOURS of sitting there getting the bots back on line. Repeatedly running the reconnect process. This is ESPECIALLY common after the warranty time is up.

The bots are easy to fix and service as far are the hardware, but firmware/software leaves these with pretty consistent low reviews. I’ve been buying these bots since the XV,,, the grey one with the purple bits,, and the vacs are amazing but the tech ware has made me consider going back to using a broom and mop on my floors for how much they cost combined with the inconsistencies of being able to stay connected to do their job and the hair pulling level of frustration trying to get them reconnected a few times a month sometimes.

  • Smart vac is not very smart

I have had this vacuum and app for about five years, and it has been problematic since day one. It has become nearly impossible recently to connect with the vacuum with wifi, so I usually just run it offline. It refuses to connect with wifi unless I spend 30-40 minutes with it, turning it on and off over and over, and share encouraging words (mostly for my own sanity). I have had to rename, reconnect, and recreate floorplans a million times because the app just does not connect to the vacuum. Most of the time when it is unsuccessful in pairing and I run it anyway, the robot vacuums a very small area for about 10 minutes and then returns to it’s base. Very, very frustrating. It’s a shame because when it works properly it’s quite good, and when it doesn’t vacuum no one does.

  • Neato should be ashamed

Is there anything particularly wrong with the app? Yes, but small things… many, many small things. Like reliable scheduling, or the ability to modify a floor plan without starting everything from scratch. Things you would expect regular updates to fix. But here is the kicker, there are no updates, not for years… bought a D7? For like $600+ dollars? Fancy paperweight. The hardware is only as good as the software, the software is an un-updated, rankly amateurish, pile of steaming bovine exhaust. Frankly I’m surprised this company is still in business. Hopefully, before you spend your hard earned dollars on Neato’s hardware, you’ll look at the software reviews and realize that this company does not care about its customers past the point of initial purchase. I regret purchasing their product, my only goal with this review is to save another person from the pain of regret.

  • No fixes to app for over 2+ years

Crazy to just stop supporting your customers that have been using your product the longest. The app is making the hardware obsolete with bugs, dropping saved maps, losing Wi-Fi and being unable to reconnect.

Most often the failure occurs for me if Wi-Fi goes down. If I have to reconnect my vacuum to Wi-Fi the app UI makes it impossible to do so. Do you really think someone would purchase a new and more expensive botvac just to use your new app? Why would anyone upgrade to a new Neato botvac to use your new app when their experience with this one is so bad? The “new” app has just as bad reviews and people see that.

When my Neato is completely useless (and I can tell that will be sooner rather than later) I’ll buy a different brand. Would never give Neato any more money when other brands show they actually support their products and customers. Fix this app and you may salvage some customers, if not they will move on to better brands like iRobot, Robovac, and Roborock. It’s clear these companies have widened the gap in quality and support and left Neato behind. I’ve convinced several friends and family members to buy robot vacuums and never recommend Neato based on my poor experience with the app.

  • Works Great

Updated: Please include an option for a ‘second pass’.

Would love to see a live location/progress map during a clean and an estimated time of completion based on an historic analysis of previous runs. A ‘Rapid Clean’ option would also be useful where it operates at maximum forward speed for a quick clean cycle, sacrificing battery run time for performance in smaller areas.

  • App update required

I have 2 neatos d3 and D5, great product, however with the updated versions neato has been work adhoc
    - D5 stuck at app update required
    - D3 stuck at charging, doesn’t start on schedule or would return to base for charging, but will not return to cleaning when fully charged

    Developer Response

Hi, we’re very sorry for this inconvenience - We’d recommend the following steps 1) Close the Neato app, ensure it’s also closed on the background 2) Press and hold the power/start button on the Neato robot for about 10 seconds to turn it off 3) Press the power/start button once more (do not hold) and wait for the robot to reboot. Once the robot chimes, open up the Neato app and the error message should be gone! For further help and assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us at www.neatorobotics.com/customer-care
  • App update so vacuum knows own height

The button for app support just takes you to customer support which is not the people I want to reach. My D6 Connected was never programmed to recognize that it has a turret on top of its body. Oddly enough the turret houses the robot’s eye. It constantly tries to go under stuff that’s about an inch lower than it is and wedges itself there, unable to free itself. If the app programmers pushed out an update to tell it that it’s an inch taller than it thinks it is, the problem would be solved. But I’m told my vacuum is no longer under warranty and I have to ship it to the US to some third party repair place to take a look at it. They charge a default fee of $50 to diagnose the problem and I have to pay the shipping which is $20 each way. I already know that the problem is Neato doesn’t provide software updates to their older models otherwise I’d have at least some of the features that their new models have. If I was a happy customer I’d be more inclined to buy another Neato once this one stops working, but as an unhappy customer there’s no chance that I would do so.
