  • Used to work, now doesn’t.

The app used to work great, giving me full control of Robin (our trusty robot hoover) from wherever I happened to be. Now, it won’t work. The app tells me he’s ready to clean, when I can see (and hear) he’s chugging around getting on with it. This also means, I can’t stop him and send him home at will. Nor can I tell him to get to cleaning at will. Really disappointed in this significant loss of function, I hope they fix it soon!

  • Overall I think Neato products are the best

I like Neato vacuums far better than my previous iRobot ones. Unfortunately I’ve found they only last about 2 years before either the lidar stops spinning, or the wheels just stop moving. $600 for 2 years is a little under a dollar a day. I’m sure there are better value’s out there, but overall I really do like the Neato system.
Just a few issues other than the longevity of the hardware….
    1. The initial setup is brutal. I had to keep restarting my new Neato vac 4 or 5 times in order for the setup process to complete. I didn’t do anything different, just kept on trying.
    2. When doing the initial floor map… just make it so the vacuum goes around and focus on just making the floor map. My first floor has a higher square footage (and I have a Labrador that sheds everywhere), so in just trying to map this floor, I’ve ran out of batteries, and another time I’ve run out of dust bin space. Just have the thing drive around and map.

Hello there and thank you for constructive feedback! Our team appreciate all of our customers’ input and will certainly forward these suggestions to be considered in future updates.
  • Vacuum works. App does not.

Have a D6 Connected which is not “connected”. App no longer allows pairing with vacuum no matter what I try. I connect to Neato access point and it tells me to connect to my home wi-fi. I then connect to home wi-fi and it tells me I’m not connected to Neato access point. Endless loop. Have to manually start vacuum all the time, which takes longer to vacuum. Ridiculous that this hasn’t been updated in over a year.

  • When you don’t have software issues it works

I have had the Neato for 4 years and it keeps requiring software updates that don’t exist and you have to go through the process of deleting everything and then installing everything. It really is the most annoying part of having the Neato. When it works it’s pretty good but the software issues are getting to me. They need to sort this quickly or users will start going elsewhere. Like me!

Hi, we're very sorry to hear! Please, attempt the following: 1) Close the App 2) Turn off the robot by holding the power/start button, then turn it back on! - This should remove the message, for help, contact us at https://neatorobotics.com/customer-care/
  • App update required? !

The app, when it works is pretty cool. But it’s super frustrating when it doesn’t. Like now, both me and my wife haven’t been able to log in for weeks now. Our robot has gone on working, but we have no control over it because we can’t log in. I finally got enough time to sit down and investigate and apparently I need to update the app because I’m seeing an “app update required” message now that I’ve wiped out my old assword that my phone, my wife’s phone, my iPad, my wife’s iPad all used. Argh! Every device I used to log in has been locked out and my username/password no longer work for no apparent reason. Finally, today, I was able to manually re-enter the u/p and get the app loaded. Ok, so now how do I update the app? I came to this page and I have no “update” option…just (open). So now what??? So frustrating!

  • D7 misses corners, app needs work

Had D7 for couple of years, still not been able to get it to do scheduled cleaning for more than a week., WiFi drops out even though good signal strength, app occasionally says it needs to update even though it’s up to date. Robot always cleans around the room around the right hand side then the centre’s, so misses tail edge of right hand corners as it goes around but doesn’t reverse to catch the corners that it misses every time.

  • Could be a lot better

I’ve had the D7 for about a year. While it occasionally gets stuck under furniture or in the middle of our closet (that it found the way into) that is probably more the robot’s issue not the app.

However there are a number of issues with the app that I have run into:
    1. It will warn you that the dust bin needs to be emptied, which is great. But it does this before a cleaning cycle instead of after one. That means when you leave for work and it’s full, the cycle triggers while you are away and then gets stopped because it’s full so it doesn’t run. Would be much better to prompt for service AFTER a cycle.
    2. There is no option to pause operation, pause the schedule, or return to base based on your location. It would be great if I came home during a cycle if it would either ask me what to do or automatically return to base.
    3. You can’t schedule or manually start multiple zones at once. You can have overlapping zones which partially solves this issue, but you can’t just say clean the kitchen, bedroom, and front hall in that order. Nor can you delay a cleaning, IE: Clean the kitchen starting in 30min. So if you are trying to clean say 3 zones overnight, you have to schedule them so that the robot returns to base in between and the times do not overlap.
    4. This app hasn’t been updated in a year. Apparently they just abandoned all the previous generation vaccum owners. Not great. I would have expected at least a few more years of improvements.

Hi there, Thank you for reaching out to us with your feedback and suggestions! We will forward it to our product development team to consider if it is possible implementing these features. Regarding the ''Send back to base'' and ''Pause'' options, they should be available while the robot is cleaning. If they are not there, this should indicate a minor synch issue, which our customer care team will be more than happy to assist you with. Please contact our support team via https://neatorobotics.com/customer-care/ so that we can assist you with that.
  • My experience

Robot - “Floor plan looks different, you must have moved your furniture. Unable to vacuum”

Me - “ok that seems silly but let’s make a new floor plan then”

Robot - “Unable to create new floor plan, too similar to old plan. Unable to vacuum”

    Me - “🤦‍♂️”

    - - The End - -
  • Vacuum vs Smart

It is a good vacuum device but not smart at all. Constantly do not recognize the floor plan. If sun comes through window will get lost or stuck. It always clean randomly wasting battery.
I would love control the settings and tell the bot what to clean and which order to clean.
Hope Neato friends listen to customers.

  • Good Machine - Poor App

I can’t help thinking that the techie developers have used the robot. If they had, perhaps some items such as identifying areas for intense cleaning would be present, which is maybe where the dog likes to sleep. It does not take much imagination to maximise the benefits of comms between the cleaner and a controlling device. Why not choose a spot where the robot starts his (Horace) routine ? Also, the daily schedule has stopped working.
An opportunity missed by a wide margin.
