Good features but unreliable

First the recent changes in 2026 for the worse:

The widget on my home screen says Sunday 13th September, but it's Thursday 17th. None of the appointments for this week have displayed. It doesn't even correct itself when the app is opened, and the whole app suffers from being just as unreliable now.

The never-ending interruptions to ask for feedback and tell you about features. No-one is stoping what they're doing to read these, but you can't turn them off, and now they're multi-page and animated. It's like nothing you've ever seen before, and in an app you want to use with minimal friction. It feels like they're interrupting me everyday (or more) to tell me about their next office party.

The only way to use apps from this company is to find a good version and never update it. The quality control just isn't there.

Next, some good points:

It has a comprehensive set of online calendars you can subscribe to - things like itemised games in the Olympics and the World Cup. Perfect!

It also has a proper task manager built-in. I haven't checked yet if it's GTD-compatible, but it's better than anything else I've seen in a calendar app.

It has nearly all the views you could want, and they're all configurable.

It has 4 standards for week numbers, which is ideal if you're using it professionally. They're turned off by default.

It has lots of shortcuts and widgets, for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

You can move events from one calendar to another without issues. This should be the case with all calendar software, but it's not.

On top of all this, it can sync directly with calendar services, so you can be rid of Apple's implementation and its tendency to forget login credentials.

And we'll wrap up with the long standing bad points:

For direct connections to hosted calendars, it only supports Google and Microsoft calendars (not CalDAV), and Hotmail calendar sync doesn't work for events added from other apps (including Readdle's own Calendars 5 app). This needs some attention.

The natural language input is poor. It can't handle a short day and date (Sun 5th July) simultaneously, which is what you might paste in, and any event name with a place name in it is going to be recognised as a place and automatically saved as the location, messing up both the event name and the location. Even simple words like tomorrow can trip it up. Sometimes it just won't recognise the word, and will add it to the appointment name, which it will enter for today.

It doesn't have a lockscreen widget for tomorrow. Only for today.

Like most iOS calendar apps, you can't attach files to meeting or appointments. I don't know why this is.

You can't zoom in on the month view. You can switch view, but pinch-to-zoom with reflow text would often be better suited and it's not supported.

New look calenfers

Apart for the continued nags to go pro when you have already purchased it when I came out at the begging, don’t like the new calendars look September 2026, is the a way to back to the nicer looking calendars, looks too blocky.

Don’t sign out!

This calendar was working great. Then one day it kept telling me to sign in. After using the app for years and btw I never signed out. I asked the help center why was ot asking me to sign-in? It gave me instructions to go here and here and sign out. I did that and it wiped out my entire calendar!!!! It’s all gone!

Still the best but backwards a step

This is still by far the best calendar app out there but this latest update knocked it down a star by making the toolbar at the bottom harder to use. The fact that we now have to toggle between seeing the dates and using the plus button to add events is really annoying and a step backwards. Can we please have it back so that we can have access to both at the same time? Then it would be back to a nearly perfect 5-star calendar. Thanks!
