  • Location tracking bug

    Overall, the app works very well. Sign-in was quick and easy. The questionnaires work fine. Although, I haven’t figured out why the study hasn’t asked if I’ve been vaccinated yet (I have). When I first downloaded the app, I noticed some negative reviews about location tracking. Although I used the app for many months without an issue. Then recently the app starting following my location even after I closed the app (Apple places a blue indicator at the top of the Home Screen), even though my setting was set to allow only when using the app. After two days of that, I had to go into the settings app and turn off location services for that app, which seemed to solve the problem. It’s a strange bug, though.

  • Unclear options

    When prompted to report on whether or not a Covid vaccination has been administered, clicking on their banner does not provide any direction what to do from that point.
  • Huge battery drain

    As much as I want to help researchers, and I do understand that they need to track where I’ve been when studying the transmission of infectious diseases, this app is a HUGE battery drain. Other apps track my location without draining my battery.
  • CRASHES non-stop. DOA. Totally unprofessional piece of work

    Continues to be Dead-On-Arrival to the app store. Please Apple, take it down. How many months and counting? You can't even open this thing as it crashes — again and again, month after month, release after new release. What a joke of a tech team. All on the same exact version of iOS that UCSF themselves advertised as a supported version too. Your tuitions and our tax dollars at work here. If you won't/can't resolve a straightforward issue like this, it brings serious doubts about abilities of your staff to address more technically challenging issues involving the security of user data and the credibility of your study results.

  • Not a quality app

    There are all sorts of major issues with the app, from broken scrolling to unreadable text. It is neither easy nor pleasant to navigate this app. The few numbers they do show you make no sense.

    You can’t simply opt out from within the app, for some reason. You have to go into Profile, FAQ (really), find the magic email address, and send them a request.

    I wish them luck with their research, but this app is just not good.

    Update: Even weeks after my opt-out was confirmed, I’m still getting emails and text messages from this project.

  • If an app could represent 2020...

    Have you ever wanted to help, but it seems that the organization doesn’t have its $#%£ together, so you just give up?

    That’s this app in a nutshell. There are no instructions on what do on this app. I try to click on the start button, in order to give my COVID results, but nothing happens. I’ve clicked on the email provided by the app, in order to let them know that there is a problem. I have not received a reply.

    The writers of this app know what this app is supposed to do, but they didn’t take the time explain it to the users of the app.

    COVID research needs competent staff and equipment. This app is so bad and unhelpful, that I am concerned about the health and safety of the country.

  • Works ok

    The app has never crashed for me but I do find the location tracking annoying. I see no need for it to track location when not open.
  • Glad to contribute, but

    I’m glad to contribute to the surveys, and I haven’t experienced the crashes that others have. I do wish it didn’t try to track my location when I’m not using it; I need to force-quit the app to get it to stop. I wish that they’d just take my location when I’m filling out the survey and be done with it.

  • Can’t access any health surveys since the latest update

    I’ve used this app weekly over most of the last year, to contribute to COVID-19 studies. However, since the latest update, I’m unable to access anything. I can log in and then try to access the studies, but keep getting prompted for a phone number. When I enter this, it informs me the phone number is already taken (duh!) and then it’s a repetitive cycle if I try again. Unfortunately, I’ve had to give up as I’m not able to get into my studies now. <Sigh >

  • Disappointed

    I have been faithfully recording my health and symptoms since the beginning of the app.
    Now I cannot get on to it as it does not respond to my log in and asks for my phone number it then tells me that my number has already been used! Yes by me! And so it goes round. I have tried logging out, deleting the app everything but to no avail. I am really disappointed as I felt I was doing my bit. The ironic part is that I keep getting emails reminding me to send my symptoms etc, with a link and the merry go round starts again!
