  • Works as Advertised!

I heard about this app on a BBC podcast, Digital Planet and thought that this would be a great way to participate in medical research that would hopefully in the long run help others.

I downloaded it and had no issues in setting it up. I mentioned this, because I did see the negative reviews, but my experience definitely runs counter to the experiences of those reviewers. The app worked fine from the beginning and has continue to do so. I should also add that I am not a US resident, which has not caused me any problems with regards to usage, or, participating in any of the health studies.

All in all, I find that the is easy and quick to use and is a nice way to help in scientific research.

  • COVID-19 Citizen Science (SciShow)

I just saw this app on SciShow. I downloaded it and it works. I wanted to leave a review because so many others were reporting problems, and when I saw those problems I was skeptical about it.

But having now used it for several days, I legitimately don’t understand where all these negative reviews are coming from about bugs and login issues because I haven’t had any problems at all. I’m running on an iPhone X right now which has been updated regularly and everything works fine. It’s literally never crashed once.

Anyway, I hope their research helps end this pandemic and I’m happy to be a part of it. It feels good to give back somehow.

  • Good science; drains battery fully with background activity

I have never seen an app drain battery faster than the eureka app. I have 100% battery health, but can fully drain my battery without using my phone in less than 14 hours, purely based on the eureka app background usage. I understand that it is trying to grab locations, but it should use the iOS api, and not try to keep its own gps signal all day long.

  • Works fine; no problems

Glad to contribute some data that might be helpful to others.
  • Only for USA

Cannot proceed with registration if you are not in the us.
  • Can't complete any but shortest survey

Contributing to information about covid seemed a responsible thing to do. For first several days it worked fine with only 2-3 questions. Today three survey was longer with questions about gyms, restaurants and theaters. Not sure what else was in survey because it crashed every time I tried too complete that days survey. I quit and restarted the app four or more times and restarted the iPhone. Despite that I have been unable to complete today's survey. Not sure off the app or the server it communicates with is at fault. Whichever it will result in days loads this compromised conclusions. Garbage in garbage out.

  • Important purpose, but has bugs

Continuously accessed location data from the background until the process is closed. Not good! But I’m going to keep using this because the data are needed. I’ll just keep closing the app when I finish my surveys.
  • Crashes way too much!

The concept of helping learn more about how our lives are affected by certain behavior is an excellent one. This particular app crashes way too often to keep people involved with answering the questions. Nobody has time and patience to repeat the same answers five to ten times before they can get to submit them.

  • great cause, frustrating crashes

i’m happy to participate in the weekly surveys, and really appreciate the app’s purpose.
unfortunately, the app crashes SO frequently one can imagine most participants are unable to complete the weekly surveys.
    hope the fix come soon.
  • Keeps crashing

I like the idea of this app and have been trying to participate in the Covid-19 survey. However the application constantly crashes while I am filling out the survey and I have to restart the survey each time. I was trying to fill out a longer survey and after 5 restarts I got fed up and deleted the app. It is no longer worth my time to try and provide helpful health information if I have to redo it over and over.
