  • couldn't add toast cash in app and now expired

    When I received 5$ toast cash on January 5th it failed over and over to add in the app because some kind of bug - just spins like it is working but never does anything - and naturally it expired 30 days later so by the time I remembered to try again I assumed I had lost it due to their technical issues. So I tried adding again and it just spins and spins. Impossible to add toast cash and I can't even get an error telling me it is expired thanks to their bugs because they still have it months later! Hangs both on wifi and LTE. Right after initially writing this review in late March I said nuts to it, and I emailed them and they responded flatly that it is a known issue. One that I have seen for over two months. I ask sooooo what are you going to do about the 5$ your bug cost me? They say they don’t know but are working to fix the bug ASAP. The bug that is nearly two months old. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills…. it is simply amazing their app rating is so high!

  • Worst app

    There are so many stupid things about this app. I took the time to write the company to point out some areas that could use improvement. Some weaknesses that they could easily tweak and be the best. But you know their response? Basically, thanks for pointing those things put but we have no intention of making the app better or fixing these issues. Example: you upload a gift card and its then locked to a specific location. What if you ordered at sonic or starbucks? Too bad, you can only use your gift card at one location. Its the most frustrating experience to try to order for this and so many other reasons. I can only imagine the merchant/restaurant experience is just as frustrating yet theyre forced to use the app because there arent good alternatives. Seriously I wish I could give zero stars. Its so frustrating that both my boyfriend and I would rather not order food if the only option is toast

  • Except when DoorDash takes over everything, everything works great

    DoorDash has repeatedly stolen, 1 or more entrées from the last three times we ordered - same address three different people ordering over the course of three months. and we are so upset that one time a toast delivery had an entree stolen! That was because our order was headed over to a DoorDash delivery. It took me an hour on the phone to figure this out and have everyone leave each other blame each other . DoorDash will say it’s not their fault and the restaurant will say it’s not their fault (it took many calls to find the manager and trick him into picking up the phone !) and the drivers just freely steal so ? we do everything we can to never use DoorDash of course. !

  • Don’t expect customer service

    Last night, I ordered through the app. After about an hour, I received no communication that the order was accepted or anything from DoorDash saying a driver was assigned. I went under my orders to see what was going on and all I got was “connection error” which is still showing up at the time of writing this. I assume the order never got to the restaurant, as I never received food, but toast still took my money! Love that.

    Anyway, went to find a chat portal, and I realized they don’t have one. Then went to find a number to call for customer service, and they have none listed. So I called a number I found online, and they absolutely knew nothing, they were just a restaurant support line it seems like, but honestly I’m not even sure.

    To sum it up: not using this anymore, it’s just not trustworthy.

  • Great website and we shall see about the app

    I live in Raleigh and many restaurants here use this service. I hope they aren’t fleecing the restaurants! I pick up my food because geez, I am not that busy or lazy (I have 3 kids and a full time job, it baffles me how people with much less on their plates struggle). So this service is great. We can put in all of our special mods for our choices and it is quick and easy.

    I’d love to see the ability to combine orders or something (let my kids add on their own device) but I am probably not your average customer. I have never used the delivery service and maybe never will.

  • App has become unusable

    I don’t know when this happened, since every single set of release notes is rubber stamp “bug fixes and enhancements,” but two recent changes have made me lose all interest in this app. First, despite previously functioning just fine without my personal data, I suddenly found I’d need to create an account to keep any history of my purchases. Fine, I will proceed as guest and recreate previous orders. I know I’m not the customer, the restaurants are. But now, Toast WILL NOT GIVE MY MONEY TO THE RESTAURANT unless I create an account. This was never necessary before. I cannot imagine that Toast’s paying customers would rather not get my money at all. I have no relationship with Toast. They are now actively inserting themselves between their customers (the restaurants) and their customers’ customer (me).

  • Don’t waste your time

    I have gone round and round with a whole string a emails from their tech support team. I was questioned on how I set up the payment information, if I did it when I was making my first payment, if I checked the save payment information box. All of which I did multiple times over again. Then I recently get an email stating that there technical department is aware of the problem and are working to resolve this issue with no time frame. My last email wants to mark the issue as resolved because I did not respond back to an automated email asking if my correspondence with what the last technical support rep gave me. No I not happy, in fact I am very upset that they could not come out with the truth from the get go and tell me they have an issue that they are trying to address and haven’t resolved it yet. I could respect that. Instead they make me feel like the problem is with something I am doing wrong. I can read and I can follow directions for almost a half a century now. Save yourself some time and just hand your payment to your waitress/waiter or cashier. Don’t waste your time getting the run around with this app.

  • In this day and age, this app is lagging😵‍💫

    So I have written other reviews about the positive parts of the app - and there are some. But, every time this app updates it’s self login information is wiped out. So just when you hand your phone to someone to make an order you have to reverify your credentials🤦🏻 Please this is my phone once is enough ! Learn to program!!

    Also, super annoying is the fact that the map still doesn’t give you directions 🤷‍♂️ Like what is that map for ? Looks at a picture of a map with out directions is ridiculous!

    I presume toast isn’t toast because they have amazing marketing and not because they have app!

  • Possible Fake Restaurants Listed

    Avoid using this app if possible. I downloaded it because I saw a restaurant that I liked was listed. I placed my order and the delivery time came and went. After a half hour I called the restaurant through the app and the line just kept ringing and went to a generic voicemail. I left my information and found a different number online. I called the number and it was the restaurant but they never heard of Toast and only uses DoorDash. They couldn’t help me or tell me if they received my order.

    This is where it get really disappointing for an app that’s meant to help local businesses. There is NO support for these situation. No chat or phone number to call. There is an email which I have emailed twice with NO response. From a developer point of view, the fact that they have their FAQ sectioned answered by Deleted User is odd and unprofessional.

    This app is meant to help local business sell and deliver food. Instead, I’ll likely avoid the restaurant moving forward. Toast doesn’t look like they have a process to vet a business when they open an account since the phone number wasn’t even real and. Because I haven’t gotten a response from Toast I’m not forced to dispute the charge on my card. If I’m lucky, I’ll get a refund in a month.
