  • Useless App

    Installed this app about 2 months ago. They don’t hesitate to snatch the $4.99 bank connection fee, but won’t approve even a $10 loan. Not only have they denied me every single time I’ve tried, they don’t even tell why I’m being denied, and just to “try again tomorrow”. Meanwhile, when they won’t even approve me $10, on the same day I go to a check cashing store and they approve me for a payday loan of $255. How am I not approved for even a $10 loan when I’m being charged half that for a service fee, and an hour later I’m approved for $255 elsewhere? I recommend avoiding this app, waste of your $4.99 monthly and they won’t even be there for you when you really need them to be. Just use Earnin or Dave for a quick $100 loan or go to your local check cashing store and apply for a payday loan if you need more then $100 on the spot.

  • Was great until it wasn’t

    At the beginning, Credit Genie was a great app. I always paid my advances back on time with zero issues. Until one day I tried getting an advance and I was denied. And after that I continued to get denied every day for over two weeks. After those two weeks I decided to stop using the app. If this is how You treat someone who was always on time with payments and someone who had a good opinion on the app then I won’t be using the app no more. Since then I deleted my account and the app and instead I now use Empower, a MUCH better app where I don’t get denied for paying on time and actually sometimes They increase my advance amount nor do they offer a slap in the face advance like 10$ what Credit Genie would offer Me after months of paying back 100$ advances with absolutely ZERO issue. I recommend EMPOWER over Credit Genie for anyone looking for a much better app. 💯

  • Alright at first

    Let me borrow no problem but after only two times it wouldn’t let me a third time even tho I paid them back and never missed any payments they said I didn’t qualify to borrow a third time and that paycheck was way higher than usual. I guess if you need it one time is cool but more times not reliable they will leave you hanging and short $100 with no explanation but oh you still have to pay $4.99 a month for it and if you unlink your bank you can’t re-link it for 30 days so I just unlinked and won’t be using again bye credit genie. Chime and Cash app lend you money and they don’t deny you if you pay your balances back.

  • Connected and then disconnected

    Hello, I tired to sign up for the app. It initially signed me up connected to my bank just fine. That’s not the problem. There was no option to manually put in my address and the app couldn’t find it. I closed the app thinking it would help but then I could no longer sign in. I do not want to be charged $5 for an app I can’t even use. I tried contacting support but there’s literally little to no real support ? No number or anything to truly help. It say to contact credit genie but how can I when I can’t log in 🙃.
    Update : I was able to restart my phone and log in fine. Still couldn’t properly put in address so I disconnected my bank, and deleted app all together. Sure it will be great for somebody else !

  • Seemed great until they overdrafted my account

    I took a $70 loan. Every single thing in the agreement said that repayment would automatically be taken out on January 5. That’s tomorrow. Then I see this morning, a full day early, they took out a partial payment for whatever reason (first loan, wasn’t late, not even due yet) which not only robbed me of the money I was going to eat with today, but overdrafted my checking account, which I will now incur a fee for. Thanks for nothing crooked genie. Nowhere did it say, nor did I agree to an early auto debit, yet here we are. If they make things right I will change my review, but we all know they won’t. If you’re still seeing this, it means they took the f you approach and didn’t fix their mistake.

  • Annoyed

    I have been able to take $100 advances since I started and now it’s only approving me for $10. Nothing has changed, pay frequency is still the same, everything paid on time and no other issues. Now I’m stuck testing a theory trying to see if I take the $10 bucks and seeing if it will approve me for the higher amount, but might go to bank to get everything reversed. Tired of apps taking advantage of users and not giving back when the user is doing everything right.

  • Call Your Bank

    The numerous people on here saying that they are getting charged the 4.99 fee each month, yet don’t use the services and/or cancelled/closed your credit genie account need to call their bank and put a stop to them taking your money - so glad I read the reviews before signing up. Also, the one person who said they used to be able to borrow more, but can now only borrow $10 or something & now they can’t pay their utility bill - you shouldn’t rely on this to pay your utility bills every month - it seems you’re stuck in the cycle where you have to keep borrowing - try to get out of that cycle - go to work a few days a week extra through a temp service or something to get caught up & get yourself out of this endless cycle, because it will never get better like this

  • SCAM SCAM SCAM

    I attempted to cancel my subscription and still got charged. When I sent an email asking a simple question, the agent that responded was extremely rude and basically told me they couldn’t help and basically I was “out of luck.” They didn’t even try to be nice or polite, nor did they acknowledge my request and question. Then they stopped responding to my emails. I ended up having to change my bank account information due to this. While the service was nice while it lasted, the customer support is rude and will block you without a care in the world as long as they have their money. There are better apps with more caring staff, this should be your last resort!

  • Was going well and then nothing….

    For the first month everything went well with the app. I received a loan, paid it back and received and second loan. It is due to be paid back tomorrow, but for the last week I have tried to open the app and it is frozen on the app title screen. I did perform all of the updates that were posted in the App Store, but I am receiving the same outcome. I cannot enter the app itself at all. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Stay away from this one!

    I downloaded the app and put in my bank account information. BIG MISTAKE! As I was trying to put in the rest of my information, (Specifically DOB), it would not let me click the submit button. I emailed and waited 3 days. In the meantime they debited my checking account. I then forwarded my previous email and sent it top priority. I let them know that I still had not received any assistance although they had taken money out of my account. I said if they weren’t going to assist me I would like to cancel my account and have my fee reimbursed. Then I received an email, (funny that nobody emailed me until then), and was told that they closed my account but would not be reimbursing the charge. SCAM!
