    Hi not often I write reviews but this is a great chance to say how appalling and frustrating the lack of support is from Xero especially when you have an urgent request .
    I have had major problems with bank feeds and it was costing me money . It was not possible to speak to anyone in Xero . It was very stressful , I think is very poor customer service when someone is dealing with your financial account and has no system or telephone support.

  • Inflexible app

    I’m a freelancer. My accountant told me to get Xero. The desktop interface is over-complex for my needs but conversely this app is too simple.
    It lets me enter my business expenses but then not edit or copy them, so for repeating expenses it’s hopeless. Nor is there a search within the app, so I can’t easily check whether I’ve entered something, or get a quick report on what my expenses are for a particular job. My old expenses app (iXpensIt) was far superior for these tasks.
    Even more annoying, the expense fields are differently named in the app versus the desktop (‘reference’, ‘description’) etc, and the app insists I enter information I don’t need (eg bank account when I only ever use one) and ‘where did you spend?’. Also it makes life complicated if you’re in flat-rate VAT, a scheme that was designed by HMRC to make life simpler.

  • Far too basic for an expensive program

    Xero is by far one of the most expensive programs, and, ok, it has features which make it somewhat worth it - but you can not access those features on this app which means I have to find time to sit at desk rather than be able to view or transact whilst out and about (which is the only time I have time!)
    You have other apps to enter basic information like receive and spend (and even then you can’t enter a prepayment which is a majority of my payments) so I don’t understand why this app is so limited.
    Mind you, even then I can’t reconcile as I constantly get a server problem!!
    Plus, I want to be able to see current account balances but I don’t have option to get a bank feed update.
    All of these things Renders the app almost useless.

    Thanks for your review. The app is designed to help you stay connected to your business on the go and this might be a user permission issue, as the dashboard allows you to see your bank account balances, profit and loss, unpaid and overdue invoices, and bills to pay as a default. In relation to the bank reconciliation, you could raise a support ticket directly from the mobile so we can help you with this issue (from any main screen, tap the menu icon, then select Contact Xero Support) and follow the process.
  • Not useful

    The app is simply not useful. Clearly neglected, and when comparing to alternatives you can see that mobile is somewhere Xero is failing, and from a business perspective it’s a huge market they’re refusing to grab.

    Reconciling transactions does not let you match to existing contacts. Only create new ones. It’s also a terrible interface when viewing details about the transactions.

    You also have little use with the contacts too. No simple actions like merging two contacts together (to fix the issue you created before), seeing invoices and transactions under a contact, or editing all the possible fields for a contact.

    No filter options on sales or purchases.

    Dashboard shows no useful insights.

    It makes you think, what is the point of the mobile app? Did the product manager of this app not list out what the needs of on-the-go Xero would be? The things I’ve listed that don’t work are what people using the mobile app would want to use.

    This sort of functionality is what has made me consider finding an Xero alternative.

  • Helpful App

    As a Xero Advisor, I’ve found this app quite helpful. It’s handy to be able to sit in a waiting room and still reconcile clients accounts. It’s also very helpful to be able to generate invoices and access important files on my phone. The app does occasionally stumble. As a Xero Advisor, my clients contact me with questions and I’ve never had to contact support about the App.

  • So limited - lacks serious reporting

    As a Small Business CEO I don’t need to send invoices I just need to see a quick summary of how the business is performing, this app COULD be perfect for that but it’s frustratingly useless at reporting.

    Why is the profit widget only for this month and not able to scroll through last month, last quarter and other various timeframes?

    If you check profit on the 1st of a month, you don’t want to see month to date, you want to see the previous months profit

    And why can’t I dig in deeper on the profit & loss report like I can on desktop to understand the breakdown of this profit or loss? And any custom reports created in xero desktop I should be able to view those from app.

    Also balance sheet, this is another report every good CEO needs

    What would make this app amazing would be if you could create your own key metrics you want to report on (either from a report or a calculation based on report lines) in the dashboard and customise the timeframe of the reporting available to swipe though in the widget

    Hi AllAboutTheMoney - thanks for your constructive feedback. The good news is that we are working on how the app can provide better insights on how your business is performing. We are currently exploring how we can make the Profit screen better by providing a breakdown of each line item for each income and spending accounts. We also acknowledge the current limitations on showing more time frames so we have added this into our product roadmap. Hope this helps and stay tuned to future releases.
  • US Payroll shutdown - Time to move on

    Their payroll was what kept us using Xero, it was really awesome. Now that Xero has shutdown payroll, quickbooks may just be where we need to go. I totally lost confidence on the company at the moment our payroll was pushed aside somewhere else. Besides rearranging top menu UI on the desktop, no new things being developed or meaningful improvements in years, same old, same old. Users feature request have been seating for years. This app particularly hasn’t seen any breakthrough update since it was launched.

    Hello, we retired our built-in US payroll in favour of a tight integration with GustoHQ for full service payroll and HR, and of course we understand some users are upset by this - we did it because we had feedback that our US Payroll solution was not full-featured enough. Our most recent releases for the app have contained some features that users are saying they love - like adding bills to pay (and attachments), converting quotes into invoices and showing outstanding invoice totals in the Contacts view, to name just a few. Make sure you're using the latest app version and then check them out and let us know what you think.
  • Hands down best accounting app for small-medium business

    This app along with it companion apps smokes Quickbooks and all the rest. Have faith and try it. You will love it. Cloud-based, mobile, easy to use, quick to learn, intuitive.

  • Good start but lacking features

    The app is off to a good start but it's too basic to get a lot done. In particular, I need a proper app-equivalent to the cash coding feature from their site.

    Love the clean esthetic and TouchID login support.

    Just waiting on this app to mature a bit.
  • Love it

    Xero has made my life easier! I have more time to the things I love and enjoy owning a business again. My staff love Xero me, as they can see what’s what, apply for leave, do their timesheets, check what leave they have owing, and access their payslips. It’s so easy to use even for me :)
