  • Terrible

    This is not only the worst banking app I’ve ever used, it’s the worst app full stop.
    I’ve never felt the need to rate an app before but HSBC need to know how painful this app is to use. Unfortunately after reading other reviews it appears that HSBC are either not reading them, or simply intend to do nothing, which leaves me to re-consider my need to keep my account open. In the 21st century banking is about the whole experience and there is no excuse for this app. It is not possible to make a quick balance check, or pay a bill on the fly as the time it takes to even log in is unrealistic. It defeats the purpose of having an app at all.
    Please do something about it.

  • The most pathetic bank app I have come across

    This app is extremely slow, has a very dated and busy ui and requires too many steps to complete a simple task . Clicking on any link such as deposit check will bring up the loading animation reloaded multiple times making you wonder this isn’t some spoof app attempting to steal your money by redirecting you somewhere else . I know of a small town bank with 3 branches which has a far better app than this, leave aside TD bank and chase banks apps which are in a whole different league

  • Latest update

    Now works with IOS12 on iPhone XS max. I initially had an issue where app would not start after phone upgrade, but this update took care of that.
    Once a bit cumbersome process of setting up the app is done, it works exactly as advertised. Basic banking transactions, payments, deposits, transaction and balance view. Have been using it for years and find it more than adequate for my needs.

  • Keep crashing on the iPhone XS. Completely useless now.

    Was ok on my iPhone 6s, but then I upgraded to iPhone XS yesterday and it stopped working. The app kept crashing, I can’t even see the log in page now.

  • Incredibly poor

    The app is slow and clunky at the best of times. It often doesn’t work during AEST business hours. But the clincher came today, 24h after updating my iPhone X to iOS12 the app does not work at all. This means that there is NO access to the Digital Security Key generated by the app and so cannot transfer funds to new payees (or large amounts to existing payees). The DSK is also necessary for transfers on internet banking on PC/Mac. The call centre said they expect to have the app working for iOS12 by end September. Way to go HSBC - a current account that can’t be used as such! Their solution - sending me a new physical security key sometime over the next week. Unbelievable.

    Rubbish that HSBC hasn’t developed a HSBC New Zealand app. Keep up with the times or lose customers.
  • New app is useless

    I had used app on both iPad and iPhone with no problems but recently it has proved to be a hassle with no access. So time consuming and redundant after spending so much time w/customer service to rectify with no resolve on go forward permanent basis. Will be moving my accounts to another bank as a result to have immediate access with app and not having to jump through hoops to gain access on apps every single time. So time consuming to call customer service every single time to gain access bc it never remembers otherwise.

  • Hello? 2007 is calling....

    I like HSBC in general but things like the app is unforgivable. This was something which may have been okay when the iPhone just came out. It seems as if the bank designed and developed the app when the first smartphones came out for sale and only patched their security bugs etc. It seems the functionality and the user experience has been something in the back burner for years now... I would enjoy to have the ascetics, client experience and design of the UK version app, at the bare minimum...
    HSBC, also go check out apps like Chase, Bank of America, Citi, Capital One, Barclays... take some inspiration and give us a 2018 app. We all hate this non-sense 2007 app.
