  • Smooth experience

I cannot but only praise this service. Just a super smooth experience all around. Good data speed, decent UK coverage, easy to turn on, turn off, switch monthly plans.

They even shipped me the SIM card abroad for free! So I came back to UK with my phone already loaded with a data and call plan. Outstanding! Something for others to learn.

One way to improve the service would be to allow payment with international visa and MC which will allow expats, and foreigners to use the service when they arrive in the UK.

  • Giffgaff more like a scam

First time in Scotland and I needed a pay as you go SIM card. Got the giffgaff and first day the 10£ were gone, i used it for navigating for total of 30 minutes and one cal and that’s it!!! Which I wouldn’t mind if they told me how the money went, so now I have to recharge it and hope for the best. By the way I used pay as you go SIM cards in Cyprus and every time there was a charge they send you an update of how you have been charged and what is left in your account. Giffgaff sent me a message when I had 0£ left and that’s it.

  • Worst ever app

Ive been with giffgaff for about 8 years now and run 4 accounts for me and my family and it is the most frustrating, annoying useless app i have ever used. Repeatedly asks for number inputs that are emailed to you to “make sure its you” every time you make even a slight change its so annoying why I would care if somebody “hacked” my account and put credit on my phone without my permission, perish the thought. I have just replaced a number due to a lost phone/sim and went through the trauma of adding the new one to my account and it said it was all setup but then when i purchased a goodybag it kindly put it on the old number which i don't have anymore!! Ridicules!! And theres no number to call or anyone to speak to so guess its just money down the giffgaff drain!! Thinking of jumping ship back to one of the more mainstream suppliers.

  • Quality throughout, I love giffgaff

Everything is just perfect with this provider. Things are easily manageable via the app, prices are amazing (£10 for 15 GB?? That you can cancel anytime?) and data of course speedy and available. I love it.
I once had a faulty payment and sent a quick message to customer support via the app. Somebody responded within 10min and within half an hour I had my money refunded.

The point is that giffgaff just wants to be NICE and is completely user-centric. Their communications are fun and I can manage any issue within 1-2 minutes via the app.

The ONLY thing that’s sometimes problematic is the limited EU roaming. According to giffgaff’s fair usage policy, it’s only possible to use a goodybag for 2 months outside without returning back to the UK. I mean it’s fair - in other EU countries data can be much more expensive and they have to cover the difference, so I understand. But as a frequent traveller with multiple residencies that can sometimes be a little troublesome for me. Still, I have been with giffgaff for 3 years and would never want to change!

  • Terrible customer service

Got charged twice and they could do nothing about it…………… they had no evidence it occurred even though it was in my bank statement…..

Also their service didn’t work at all for me

  • Astronomical roaming charges in EU

Used to be good. Was with them for years and recommend them. Not anymore. If you go over your 5gig data allowance in the EU, they apply eye watering charges for data. Avoid at all costs if you travel to the EU. Edit after giffgaff response: I have no idea what their pricing is as giffgaff don’t seem to know the difference between bits and bytes. The problem is they are using abbreviations in the announcements so in some places they use b (bits) and in other places they use B (bytes). One is 8 times more. Totally confusing. If the just stuck to plain English it would be so much clearer. I think the cost of 1GB (Giga Byte) of data is either £100 or £800 depending on where you read the announcement. I just wish giffgaff would publish the cost per gigabyte of data like most networks do. Perhaps they don’t want customers to easily compare their charges? I’m sad to leave them.

From July 26th members will be able to use up to 5GB of their goodybag allowance in the EU and selected destinations. For more information please visit here, https://community.giffgaff.com/d/33552509-eu-roaming-changes-2022 - giffgaff Ann
  • NOT user friendly AT ALL!

I have been a giffgaff customer for well over ten years. Because I was locked out of the country during Covid, my account was dormant. I paid for tip ups periodically via the website only to learn that it was to some scammer - how was this allowed to happen?
Now I have had my SIM card disabled and had to get a new one, but am not being allowed to transfer my original phone number (which has been my number for over 20 years) for reasons no one can explain because the support is so completely HOPELESS!
I also want to change my new user name and the system won’t even allow me to do that unless I fly to the moon and back.
I used to think giffgaff was second to none and now I have zero time for it and wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy

Hi there, we understand how frustrating and inconvenient this must all seem. If a SIM has not been used in 6 months then the account is deactivated and the number is lost and we cannot get it back. • Why the full screen notification?

Why the full screen notification for every text or phone call? This is a pain when you use it hands free in the car. It doesn’t go away. How do you switch it off? You may want to know your balance from time to time but you can go in the app for that. It does it even if I’m in WiFi using data. It just seems to have started doing it for texts. I don’t do many texts but it is very annoying. 2 stars ... no actually 1 star. Not really much in the app at all that I need or know what it means. All the config settings are just no use to an end user who just wants it to work not mangle your brain. Can I just uninstall the app? I presume it’s optional and the phone will still work. Who knows. GiffGaff is fine but the app is pants.
On top of that ROAMING TO SPAIN didn’t work at. Had to top up £10 but not expecting to be able to make a call till that has been sucked dry. Why was I down to 20p ffs I haven’t made a call this month … that I can actually see on a list in this crappy app.
Try resetting your password when you’re abroad. Took 2 hours so far.
