  • Horrible customer service

Someone said “a good idea gone terribly wrong” and I completely agree. Customer service is nearly non-existent and when you do get through to them, they’re dismissive and unhelpful. We bought the Eurail in advance and still couldn’t book any trips that said they had available seats. The app was garbage and so is customer service. Sadly, if you book the global pass without “Plus”, they keep 15% of your purchase and even if you do purchase plus, you’ll still lose money due to inability to reserve any seats 🤷🏼‍♀️ just book the normal trains. It ended up being a lot cheaper in the long run anyways.

  • No customer service, but we got your money

Did you know that Eurail will happily take your money, but there’s no phone number to call for support WHILE YOU TRAVEL? Or that their app can’t accept payment for seat reservations (gonna cost you, a lot) because reasons? Seriously, USA not an option for where my passport was issued. Get real.

Tried multiple times to contact customer service - we’ll maybe get back to you in two weeks but THATS GREAT NEWS BECAUSE WE RIPPED YOU AND MANY LIKE YOU OFF

Will be getting my money back for the pass, and any argument is straight to a charge back. Run, don’t walk.

  • DO NOT BUY A EURAIL PASS THROUGH THIS APP.

I am currently traveling. I have a 4 travel days for a month Flexi-pass. It was easy to use the planner, create a journey and get an E-ticket for my first trip. I have since been unable to get an e-ticket for my other travel days. Also, I have only used one travel day and it says I have only one travel day Left

Guess what? I looked into getting a refund. Refunds cannot be given after one travel day has been used. My 2 passes cost 468 Euro. My first trip was 53 Euro each. I am out 352 euro.

  • Worse than useless! Actually misleading

Rail planner lets you activate a day on a train without seeing if seat reservations are even possible !!!! You can waste a whole data travel ticket only to find you can't get there. It fails to find all the local trains you can use to work around seat reservation problems so you can't use it to book those. It hands off all seat reservations to a web site tgat requires a coordinated login-- the same I'd as the app if you can remember it. But it doesn't open the web site in safari directly so if you tap the back button you lose all your previously entered search criteria.

It's not simply hard to use but actively confuses you . It would be hard to make a worse app. The website itself is better

  • Could be good, but hard to recommend

When the app is working it’s fine, 4 stars, even useful. It could do with integrated reservation booking though. Unfortunately I had a few incidents: First, a case (fortunately several weeks before my trip) where it randomly changed my trips to ones I haven’t entered which was very confusing! Second a case where it wrongly notified me my journey was affected by strikes (it was telling me about strikes in a country my trip didn’t go through) Finally a case where it forgot everything while onboard a train, showing that I hadn’t activated my pass which did not amuse the guard. I had to quit the app and reload it before it showed my trip again. If I had been without mobile data that could have been a fine. Happily the guards seem to know the app is iffy…

  • Don’t use this app

Using this app and service has been terribly overwhelming and confusing. The app itself is impossible to use, and it won’t let me have access to my ticket. This stumped the service desk at the international train station in Amsterdam but even they could not help me. I have submitted help requests and no one has reached out to me. I am going to have to spend extra money to buy a ticket because I cannot access my euro pass. There is no way to communicate with the company for support. I deserve a complete refund of my pass but cannot get in contact with customer service, so eurail has effectively robbed me.

  • could be more user friendly

pretty well-designed and thought out until you get to the seat reservation part…for some reason you can’t make them within the app and you have to go to their website or through the train company. their website took me (a tech guru) 15 mins to figure out where exactly i needed to go, and when i did the website didn’t show trains with the same times as their app so i’m left wondering if i’d end up booking a seat reservation for a train that my app isn’t going to have me go on. also when i signed up on the website and put my eurail pass number in, my birthdate and trip start date somehow got changed ?? it’s always the little things

  • Decent app for what it is, but improvements are needed

We managed to use this app to add our interrail pass and journey without any problems; for that purpose, it works great. There are a couple of issues I want to go into:

    1. There is an extremely annoying bug that me and all my friends have. When viewing My Trip as a list, scrolling down on the list causes the list to bounce back to the top when you stop scrolling. This is SO infuriating, especially when you have a large journey like we do. It means it’s almost impossible to stay at the bottom of the list.

    2. It would be nice if the trains saved on the trip would update live to show delays, cancellations, etc. I understand that the app is designed to work fully offline, but it would be a really nice feature for when you are online, as opposed to being at the mercy of the train departure boards inside the stations.

The app is good overall, but definitely could be improved.

  • Eurail is a good idea gone terribly wrong

Great idea - discounted train tickets on one interface for booking on a handy mobile app. The reality is quite another story. Pass purchased through online site does not sync correctly with the app; e.g., a pass for 15 non- consecutive travel days over 2 months is converted to 15 consecutive days of travel, making a mess of travel purchased outside the travel period created (just stunning) by the app. While I have seen a continuous stream of complaints regarding Eurail customer service, I would have to say there is no customer service. None. At. All. I am now in day 7 (!) of waiting for a response to a request to solve the issue described above, with only an automated response to say my inquiry has been received.

Summary: the app is useless if the service offered does not really get delivered. Save yourself the headache - skip this.

  • Why does this app show fully booked trains as available?

So frustrating to see ‘reserve from €x!’ only for you to check and find that you can’t.

Surely it’s not that hard to mark a sold out train as SOLD OUT in some way to avoid the anguish of clicking through one~by~one on what seem to be reservable trains that often aren’t.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about sold out trains here however annoying that is, just how badly designed this app is, to the point of being misleading.

Only when you’ve booked your pass and loaded it can you see TRUE availability (via the fiddly process described above). Obviously availability for certain dates might impact whether someone buys a pass or not, so this feels borderline deceitful to conceal this information.

Coming from the UK there aren’t exactly many options to get over the channel… so why feature a pop~up suggesting how to find ‘alternative routes’ that actually don’t exist? Rather than offering practical advice for last minute train hoppers…
