  • Used to kind of work, but now it’s beyond buggy

I used to like using the Kareo app for looking up patients and sending prescriptions from home. Unfortunately with the latest update the app is barely functional. It often spits an error at me when trying to look up a patient. On the rare chance I’m able to pull up a patient, I’m unable to prescribe any meds. Previously the app would let me select a medication, but often the pharmacy search function would bug out and not allow me to select a pharmacy. Now it’s even worse in that the app doesn’t register anything when I search for a medication name; the search results list is completely blank.

This app is useless if I’m unable to look up patients or prescribe medications. Especially since on my computer there are times that Kareo bugs out and will not let me select a pharmacy to prescribe for patients. Which leaves my MA having to call prescriptions in directly, because I can’t prescribe meds on either my phone or computer. At this point, what am I even paying for? I am using up-to-date versions of Kareo both on my phone and computer. My OS and browsers are all updated. I’ve even tried multiple computers and multiple browsers, nothing works. Kareo, this is ridiculous. Please fix it.

  • Worst app

Never have I written a review on the App Store. I’ve had the iPhone since it’s launch in the late 2000s. I am a family physician who sees 20-30 people daily and use the Kareo system. This App is a mess. Just today I received 10 “message” alerts on my phone as well as watch and iPad in a span of 5 minutes. There was no message. Nothing. There’s loads of internal service errors from the app when I try to renew prescriptions. I’ve contacted customer service many times and emailed screen shots. I’m tired of taking screen shots. So the best solution? Delete all apps from my devices. I will access the EMR on a web browser since that seems to work a little better.

  • Great so far, with two suggestions

This far this has been a great app to view our patient schedules and associated documentation. I have two suggestions for improvements.

    1) A 4-digit pin is inadequate considering the sensitive information contained with a practice's account. I suggest a 6 or 8-digit pin, or the option of a swipe pattern, for both fast access and security.

    2) When viewing the calendar when I click on an item it displayed the patient's general information. At the bottom left is the "go to chart" link. Clicking that takes me to the patient's chart. However there's no "back" button to return me to where I was. So I have to navigate manually back to the calendar. This is a real pain especially when I'm looking at calendar appointments weeks into the future because i must scroll to find where I was before.

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to review our application and provide product feedback. We will definitely take a look at longer PIN codes, given that biometric ID is much more prolific now than it was in times past. Secondly, we are aware that a back button to dismiss the chart and return to the appointment is a workflow that is sorely missed. We're working on shoring up that gap. Hope you have a great holiday!
  • iPhone app is of limited use

The web based EHR offers all the necessities at no cost which is great. I implemented the EHR in my practice due to the advertised native iPhone and iPad apps. When I installed the iPhone app I was dismayed to see that it is little more than a schedule checker and old note viewer. Without the ability to start and sign new SOAP notes, this app is essentially worthless on the phone. Supposedly the iPad app is fully functional but I really think that the company shouldn't omit the limitations of the iPhone app in their advertising. I'm not sure if there are technical limitations to having a fully functional native iPhone interface but there is no excuse for actively promoting it as such. The website makes it look like you can access the notes features by phone and conveniently omits that it is read only. If you are shopping for an EHR that works seamlessly with iOS, just be sure you intend to purchase a newer iPad with Touch ID. Any mobile device other than that will simply leave you disappointed.

  • Luke

This looks nicely laid out, the calendar view is much nicer and clearer than Dr. Chrono. however, as a mobile acupuncturist it is not useful to me for the lack of ability to add new patients from the iPad app.

Please increase functionality for the iPad app and include customisable templates.
