  • App useless -doesn’t work

We have great experience with HEALTHY PAWS INSURANCE.
We have used the app for Veterinary Hospital bills that are $2,000 or more.

We have not had 1 problem using their service. Communication has always been timely and informative.

Our monthly bill is now $80. Well worth every penny for the piece of mind and for their timely payments.

Our pug has had 3 (maybe more) major incidents that required surgical or specialist services with over night and multiple days in hospital. Those bills were incredibly high, the last bill was over $4,000.

My only issue is with the APP.
*THE APP HASNT WORKED IN OVER 6 months. It used to work so well that I would use the APP to keep track of our insurance.

FYI-People want access to everything on their devices. If this app worked properly you would get more users.

If you are trying to get more people to use your service it doesn’t make sense to have APP that doesn’t work.

I have written to complain to get it working but it still doesn’t eork.
Please please FIX this APP (APPLE IPhones)
    Thank you very much!!

  • Unethical, predatory practices. 0 stars

I don’t know what has changed at this company over the last few years …management, business model, or looming bankruptcy. I had always heard that pet insurance was shady but I thought I’d found the exception to the rule when I found HP. Amazing customer service, easy to use app and claim submission system, great coverage and very competitively priced.

NONE of that remains true any longer - complete 180. This company preys on the vulnerability and lack of options as your animal ages. They boast to never raise rates based on filing a claim. Maybe that’s true. However, my premium has SKYROCKETED over the 5 years I’ve used the service. They know that as ailments are documented over the years pet-parents have limited options in going to competitors where they are now classified as having “pre-existing conditions” which fall outside of eligible coverage…stranding you with HP. As of next month it will cost $230 to insure my 4 & 6 y/o dogs.

The app and customer service have deteriorated as well. I cringe when I read their automated notes about how much they care for your dog. Don’t walk, run from this service.

  • Company going under?

That’s my only guess as to why they’ve completely neglected the app. That, and, the fact that I submitted a claim almost a month ago and they haven’t responded to any of my inquiries.

The first claim I made was about 1.5 years ago and it was so easy. It was processed immediately but now things seem to be questionable.

I would think paying every month over several years, and only having two fairly minor claims…would make me a valuable customer but it just seems too much of a black box now, with a really bad customer experience. To be fair this was not the cheapest option but I had the best feeling…now that the company is either struggling, changed hands, or cutting costs, I think I’ll need to look for other providers.

  • WAS great, prices skyrocketed

I had been with them for going on six years when I first got my little boy, it was great and worked well with me. Only had to really use the insurance once in his life thank goodness. Every single year the rate would go up and last year it went up to around $75 for a medium tier package when at one time I was paying just over $40. About a month ago I get an email saying the rates will now be increased to $100 per month. Their solution to get me down to the lower rate was to move me to a much more expensive deductible and less pay out to which they then informed me when the new contract started it of course would go up by $20. I start looking around in reviewing and researching other pet insurance companies out there and many had good reviews so in the end I had to cancel my account with them because they would not budge and I am now paying half price for the exact same coverage with another large in well established company. I do not want to say the name because I do not want it to feel like this was a paid for review by a competitor, go do some shopping and get the same coverage for half the price, should they ever reduce their rates I would consider coming back as I never had issues with the prices were getting ridiculous.

  • Disorganized, Slow, Unhelpful, Non-responsive

I recently adopted my cat from a local shelter and got him insured with this company, it was my girlfriends choice of insurance. Anyway, we had to do a check up for him. They did not cover it. Shortly after, he contracted a UTI. They did not cover the expense of the antibiotics nor the cost of the visit. Each time we take my cat in, they request all of his previous medical history.

We got what we could from the local shelter we adopted him from, which was nothing aside from the fact he has FIV. But each time we try to make a claim, they require his medical history which had been sent in numerous times. Our most recent claim, the sent an email saying that we would not receive a reimbursement due to the fact that the invoice had already been processed but received nothing.

Least of all, you couldn't get anyone on the phone. If you want to keep your furry friend insured, go somewhere else. Do not think twice about turning elsewhere.

  • App stinks, insurance declining

The app no longer works with Apple iOS 13.6.1.

Since they were bought out they ask for double back up on almost every claim, it may even be a monthly prescription but they’ll ask for another copy of the receipt. Very annoying and time consuming. They usually end up paying by why waste my time? Especially if it’s a reoccurring claim.

On the app, while your claims are processing all you can see is your claim number, no details. That’s ok if you are only submitting one claim but if you’re doing multiple it can be a nuisance. Because of this, sometimes when they ask for additional back up of a claim all they give you is the claim Number, no other details. Again, if you have multiple claims it makes it difficult to track what they want.

If they ever get the app working again it needs work! And for people like our family, that have had this insurance for years, quit pestering us for double documentation when it’s not truly needed.

The only reason why I’m giving it two stars and not one is because they used to be great. We had a dog that needed surgery and our out-of-pocket was minimal

  • Overall great experience

My experience with healthy paws has overall been good. I’ve noticed that their customer service representatives have changed a bit....sometimes if I call in the late afternoon or evening after work, someone answers who either doesn’t understand me or I’m not understanding them. I’ve actually gotten so frustrated that I just hung up and called back the next day. Not sure what to make of it yet but I prefer to call them in the morning since I rarely have that issue then. If healthy paws reads this review, they should really consider this because it makes their customers frustrated and it’s gotten to a point I’ve actually considered switching insurances because of the people I talk to on the phone. Their policies are really good but if I call, I used to actually look forward to talking to a representative but now I just dread it. It’s kind of sad.

  • Used to be great

I’ve recommended HealthyPaws to countless people.

Recently, however, they’ve change writers (I’m not sure what that means, but that’s what they tell me) and it has not been a good experience.

I have been waiting for three months now for them to determine how to transfer a pet to a new owner without having to sign up for new coverage (and losing my old coverage). Probably not usually a big deal, but I cannot be the only one who gets divorced and has to transfer payment of a pet policy to a former spouse. They keep telling me they will let me know and that they don’t know how...

Claims: almost everything I submit now gets denied despite obvious coverage. I’ve got a canned email response stating why it’s covered that I use for appeals. To their credit, they generally get it right after a while.

Finally, the app: arguably the best part in the past. I could just snap a picture of the bill through the app and be done. Not anymore. It doesn’t work with iOS 13. Clicking on anything (my claims, submit a claim, etc) within the app just brings up a blank screen. Judging by the reviews, I’m not alone. My support requests about updating the app have gone unreplied to.

  • Disorganized

The company has friendly employees I’ll say that. However, it is VERY disorganized. I’ve had to get my vet office to submit the same pet records 3+ times now. I have also called the customer service line twice now and they are seeing the medical records on file. However for some reason the claims department can’t seem to find any of the 3 emails containing my pets records. I’m starting to think they are just looking for a way to drag it out until I forget I even filed a claim. This is the second claim I have filed and I have had a less than satisfactory experience both times. Needless to say I will be cancelling immediately once this is done and going with a different company. Maybe they just grew too quickly and don’t have efficient systems in place yet. Regardless, it’s a waste of time and money to deal with these clowns.
