Highly recommend!

This platform has been so easy to use but at the same time very secure! There are what seem to be hundreds of therapists to choose from after reviewing their profiles and credentials. Very happy so far!

Great first appointment

Our 15 year old teen daughter was struggling with intrusive thoughts after seeing video clips of a scary movie and then would see other Tik Toks and Reels regarding this movie in which her thoughts increased in the matter of just a few days. Despite encouragement and support from her family, we determined she needed additional help from an outside source through counseling. Trying to find an in person counselor is what I prefer; but to find an available therapist or to wait 2 weeks was too long. I remembered the commercials about BetterHelp and started that online process which was simple to begin. In less than 24 hours a counselor was matched with us based on our inquiry and we had a virtual appt scheduled the next day. The first meeting with our counselor was great and my daughter immediately was able to share her thoughts with a caring counselor who also provided 2 coping techniques within the first session with plans for a follow up meeting. I could see immediate hope in our daughter’s eyes. Looking forward to our future appointments.

Great App

My 15 year old daughter really likes her therapist. Love this app!

NOT THERAPY

If you want to pay full price for sessions with a chat bot, this is the therapy for you! No live sessions, no video sessions, no voice, no personality, no connection… just texting. You can cover 1/10 of what you would cover in a live session at 100% of the price. What a deal!! Stick with Better Help - this is a COMPLETE WASTE of money.

Oh… and when you realize it, they won’t refund you despite undertaking zero sessions. Avoid avoid avoid.

FAQ

What is Teen Counseling?

Teen Counseling is an app that connects teenagers with licensed therapists who specialize in adolescent mental health. It allows teens to communicate with their therapist through text, phone calls, or video sessions, providing support and guidance for various challenges.

How does therapy work on this app?

Once your parent subscribes and provides consent, you will be matched with a licensed therapist. You will both have access to a private 'room' within the app where you can communicate with your therapist via text, phone, or video. This space is for discussing your life, challenges, and receiving feedback and guidance.

Do I need parental consent to use this app?

Yes, parental consent is legally required for teens to receive online therapy services through this app. Your parent or legal guardian must fill out a consent form before you can be matched with a therapist and begin sessions.

Is my communication with the therapist private?

Your conversations with your therapist are private, and your parents will not have access to your therapy room. However, therapists are required to break confidentiality in specific situations to protect you or others, such as if you express intent to harm yourself or others, or if you report abuse or neglect.

What kind of therapists are available?

The therapists available on the platform are licensed U.S. psychologists (PhD/PsyD), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional counselors (LPC), or similarly certified professionals. They are required to have relevant academic degrees, at least three years of experience, and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience.
