After cervical spine surgery, my therapy was due to start on March 12th 2020. Going to physical therapy wasn’t an option thanks to COVID-19, and I believe it really impacted my recovery. Hinge Health not only helped me as an alternative to PT, it was the reason I committed to exercising with regularity. It has provided me with the tools to help my neck and I rely on the stretches/exercises throughout the day even when I don’t use the app. But again - it was the catalyst that put me on the path to staying active, and for that I am beyond grateful. I’m more fit than I’ve been in the last 30 years, and I’m 50.

Also - Coach Megan has been great not only with being so accessible with any questions I had regarding my neck regimen but also with providing me with routines to help with hip, lower back, core strength and others that I use on almost a daily basis. HH has improved my quality of life and has changed my lifestyle - thank you!

  • Great App - still on it even after 1 year

I had a severe Lowe back problem and almost about to go for a surgery for “Herianated L4 disk”. Joined this program for back and it proved really helpful. In 15 weeks of 5-day routine, I was able to feel so much better with my back; I even able to lift 5 Gal water bottle from car trunk to garage. This Hinge program is absolutely great and guaranteed to relieve back pain if done without quitting in the middle. From week 2 itself it proved to relieve the pain. The article are so good and highly motivating. I am impressed so much with the program and its benefits that I am keeping it doing even after reaching maximum level 40. I crossed 40 week continuous stretch and committed to keep doing in order to keep my back strong. One feature would make this app much more useful - “Switching sides in the routine should be announce clearly in spoken language instead of a small beep”

A structured physical therapy program you can do in your home. You are working in your home with a program and coaches that are specialists in your area of need, be it the hinge of shoulder, knee or back. You start slowly and build strength, they are constantly checking with you on the current status of your “hinge” . Additionally, they share articles that assist you in being successful with the physical therapy. If you have an injury in a hinge area, trust “your hinge” to Hinge Health. They will help you strengthen your hinge slowly & safely. I am so thankful I have had the opportunity to strengthen my shoulder with Hinge Health! I am no longer limited with a weak shoulder!

  • Well guided workout with good results

I have been using the app consistently for a few months. I’m doing the “neck” workout. The workout is 5-8 exercises, guided by a rhythmic tone. I start the exercise and close my eyes to follow the tones. Becomes almost meditative for me. This is not a cardio workout- but focused on flexibility and targeted muscle strengthening for the neck and upper back. Includes educational readings. I find this to be a well constructed program that has helped me physically and gives information worth thinking about. Importantly- the program is working for me. My arthritic neck and shoulders hurt less and my range of motion has increased. I am staying with the program because it doesn’t take long, I’m feeling better, and I learned I can do something positive to minimize and manage my discomfort without reaching for the Tylenol 😀
About a year later: I stopped doing the Hinge program after a hip replacement limited my mobility for activity for a number of weeks. After 3 months I recognized that I missed the program - my old symptoms of stiffness and limited range of motion were creeping back into my neck and shoulders. Feeling better back on the program.

  • Best Back Care App

My employer provided this app as a way to get healthy for those of us who suffer pain associated with a back injury. I fall in this category. Over one and a half years ago, I began the app. The stretching and position holds really helped alleviate back pain but also improved flexibility (think being able to sit on floor with legs stretched out in front of you). My back issue (previous tailbone dislocation and 2 herniated disks in lumbar region) improved tremendously. It worked better than the epidural blocks and chiropractor treatments in about 12 weeks of stretching a few minutes each week. I was able to return to regular exercise and have lost about 11 lbs. Now I am an infrequent user but every time I do the Hinge Health stretches I think why do it not more! A tool that gives achievable goals and helps improve flexibility and balance. You will not be disappointed if you keep at it.

  • App needs work . . .

Content is fine thus far. I’m about a month in. But the app itself can be frustrating. Surely after a month, I don’t need the tutorial on how to put on and pair sensors etc every single time I start the app but I’ve not found a way to skip it. As well, when shifting from one exercise to another you have to touch the start button. Not ideal if you’re a few feet away from the device. Why not just have it advance automatically and wait for you to stand still? If one is really not ready, you can always pause it manually. A couple of times, the sensors got way off, so the avatar would show me in a position I wasn’t in. There was no obvious way to recalibrate without ending the session and restarting.

When i started having chronic problems with my back / neck I was on a verge to be depressed. That’s when I was introduced to Health hinge. It was a God send. I was able to work through the exercises, which helped me stay on course with stretching. I learned a lot about living with my condition through the daily lessons. I realized that i am not alone. I also realized that maybe I don’t need to have a surgery. It’s been over a year since I have been working with Health Hinge and it still is one of my favorite and most important things I do daily.
Thank you HH for giving me my life (or most of it) back!

  • Three weeks in, it’s a great program

You know the problem with exercise regimens, you need to be motivated to actually do it. Hinge Health makes it easy to get started with easy exercises that only take a few minutes a day, then gradually increasing time and complexity. You are paired with a coach who communicates via text, so it’s almost like having a personal accountability buddy. The coach also helps adjust exercises that might be too difficult. The sensors are optional but help you to know that you are doing the exercises correctly and it points out any imbalances in your body (I can stretch further to my right side than my left). Overall I think it’s a great program, though admittedly after 3 weeks I cannot say it has changed my life. But I have high hopes!

I’ve been doing hinge health for about a year now. I started with the hip program. I was having bad hip pain from running. One of my legs is a little shorter than the other. The hinge health program eased me into some great exercises at my own pace to strengthen areas I needed strengthened. The support was very good. Someone checks in at least once a week. The articles are very good. You get to have a library of healthy articles to read up on and expand your knowledge and learn new ways of exercise and breathing and relaxing. New ways to attack pains and manage the pain in order to keep doing the activities you love to do.

  • App to Grow and Recover

I have constant back pain problems among other areas, but back is the worst. Through my employer in Jan 2021 I was able to start this program with a health coach, sensors & app. Wow! Who knew??? A short exercise focused on back issues, even shorter article to read and 15 minutes later I’m on my way. What I didn’t realize is the small consistent steps is what I needed more than a big blow out and back to chiropractor, big exercises for recovery & months of healing. This doesn’t stop those big moments but takes them down a whole heck of a lot and recovery was way faster. My health coach was a delight and worked with my style of encouragement needed. 💖 forever a life changer. I’ll continue this program even after my year is complete ❤️
