  • Very supportive

I started Hinge Health in October after receiving information from my insurance carrier. I have been struggling with hip pain since a couple of bad falls. The pain was limiting my physical activity and I was feeling pretty hopeless. I knew I needed some therapy of some sort but wasn’t sure where to go other than my GP. Hing Health starts slow but daily work has really helped. The staff is supportive. They read all my comments and pain registrations and ask follow up questions to get me what I need next.
I recommended it to my spouse and he began shoulder work. He also reports improvement in his pain level.
They are very focused on reducing pain and avoiding surgery.

  • Hinge Health is Excellent

I have been using the Hinge Health app for several months. I have been dealing with back issues on and off for thirteen years. Hinge Health is one of the best tools I have found to address my issues. Each user can set their own goals for frequency of the exercise and flexibility “playlists.” Three sessions a week is a recommended minimum target but I am shooting for 7 a week. Making it a daily practice keeps my back and lower body flexible and capable for my daily tasks. I also enjoy the routine as a good start to my day. The audio and visually guided exercises are varied and increase in challenge and intensity over time. Wearable monitors that are Bluetooth linked to the app assist in tracking pace and range of motion. It’s like having a trainer in the room with you. I hear almost daily from a coach - that is clearly not a bot but an actual human in touch with my progress. Following each session’s routines there is a reflection or thought piece that encourages mindfulness, resilience and a deeper understanding of the mind/body relationship in pain and injury recovery. These are very helpful and I would think especially so for people who are just starting a journey of recovery.

  • It works!

For years I tried everything possible to treat my back pain. I tried PT, chiropractic treatment, pain killers, etc. Nothing offered the relief I needed. I spent thousands of dollars, literally. With time, I stopped running, slowed down going downstairs, suffered intense pain while standing in line, etc. I even considered surgery. Until now! I have used Health Hinge for 5 months or so and I could not feel better. I am so happy with the results. It is easy, it is fun, and it is manageable with my schedule. I do not need to drive to appointments but have the benefit of having a coach to provide guidance and encouragement. Colin, my coach, has been key to my success. Thank you Colin and Health Hinge! • Best at home strengthening therapy!

Hinge Health therapy has help me strengthen my knees. I can squat now. I haven’t been able to squat without flexibility or pain in about 20+ years, but I can now. I have developed firm muscles in my lower thighs that took the work off my knees and it has made all the difference. I recommend this therapy to everyone wanting to better the quality of life in retirement or for anyone who is sedentary. My problem was in my knees but Hinge Health has the right therapy for any of your problem joints. They also explain how each exercise helps you in your daily activities.

  • Not alone

I’ve been with the program for a year. I’ve had weeks where I never showed up, was under the weather, or didn’t have my tablet, but not once was I alone. My coach continued to reach out and give the most encouraging comments! She never left me when I didn’t show up for her. We found a solution to the tablet problem and downloaded it to my phone. That was the best thing for me! It was great advertisement too! I was able to show coworkers, family and my doctor. Now when I see those people they ask if I’m still doing the program. As I said never alone! They are my reminders as well as my body

  • App Struggles Every Level Change Past Level 15

I started Hinge Health for my knee 6 months ago and have seen amazing results, going from hardly being able to walk around the block to being able to walk 2 miles briskly. HOWEVER, the app began having issues e.v.e.r.y s.i.n.g.l.e t.i.m.e I advanced a level once I reached level 15. I’m not sure if there’s just too much data or if the people coming up with new routines aren’t on top of it, but it is very frustrating to always miss a day while the app/people catch up. I would recommend taking screen shots of routines so you can access them even when the app isn’t working which happens often enough that I’m finally leaving this review.

** 2 days later … app still won’t load my user data. An app is only effective if it actually works and in Hinge’s case, it is down more these days than up.

  • So far they're the worst

I can't begin to explain how much this app/company has underwhelmed me. I spent a long time detailing my medical information and background only to have several exercises added to my "custom" workout that would further injury an orthopedic injury had I actually listened to them when they promised to have a PT develop my plan. So I'm at a few weeks now still without an actual medical professional doing a customs workout and even though I've warned them multiple times that their "customs plan" violates my doctor, my orthopedic surgeon, and in person physical therapist's medical advice they continue to persist with my "care manager" sending me text reminders to do my daily activity. This is happening even after I've told her the injuries will make me worse and I'm pending surgery and need non-weight bearing activities that only stretch my body. (There's tons of free apps that can do this for you.) regardless she just keeps offering to send me articles to read about how some exercises can be uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure their case managers aren't doctors and her proffered "articles" and well maybe I can do an appointment with the PT (after my program was done) all go against my doctor's advice. So my point is this isn't truly custom but since I'm not paying for this as my employer is, Im not demanding my money back at this time.

  • HingeHEALTH App

I am all about alternative healing approaches for my chronic osteoarthritis (both knees, shoulders, elbows, etc). I want to avoid the Total Joint Replacement(s) surgeries that western medical professionals promptly recommend once the term Chronic Pain is mentioned. Hinge Health’s app for knee pain has been in my toolbox since the start of Covid lockdown. As a result I have been able to improve not only my joint health - but also maintain improved mental health. The 1:1 coaching and ability to spend time with DPM’s and DPT’s (within the app’s videoconferencing feature) to gain their expert medical opinions is beyond compare. After decades of uncertainty about accepting TKR surgery as the only outcome, I finally feel peace around “my teams” agreement with what WE determine as the next move. p.s., I’d love to work for HingeHEALTH!!!

  • Great app

This app is amazing! While it’s me at to help folks with severe back pain and issues I was not in that category. My issue was general tightness and discomfort in my back which I could not stretch away. The app with the guided workouts that progress as you do the work has been great for me. My back feels much better and I have been introduced to some new things like balance exercises. That’s something I never did before and frankly i struggled the first time it asked me to do a wood pecker but little by little I have improved on those meaning my balance and posture are better. There is a coach assigned to you for motivation and questions. This can be great for people that need it. The work is usually under 15 minutes so very easy to work into your schedule There are also great articles on everything well being like meditation. Lastly the app itself works great on all my devices so no issues there.

  • Loving Care

Hinge Health is an excellent resource available to take care of yourself and make a difference in your health and longevity. My doctor was talking surgery. To me, surgery is a last resort. Insurance provided the opportunity to participate in Hinge Health physical therapy as a starting alternative. Knowing that physical therapy can make a huge difference I signed up. Hinge Health provided an excellent solution and I can participate fully right here at home. HH provided targeted physical therapy in an easy to follow format that allows me work at my own pace while strengthening and rebuilding weak areas. With HH, I have eliminated 95% of the pain associated with my condition and am becoming stronger daily, thus nullifying some of the underlying factors that contributed to my initial problem. Building up your strength slowly, with the help of your coach and the exercises customized to your needs can make all the difference long term. HH provides everything you need including your own online coach to cheer you on and monitor your progress. I have been using this program, sometimes not as much as I should, and recently realized that I have achieved some core strengths and abilities that I have never been able to do, even when I was younger and in top shape. Challenge yourself and give yourself the gift of targeted, loving care. The work you put in is worth every minute. The pay off is a stronger you. Maybe even stronger than ever!
