  • Not super flexible

    I’ve been a member for 5 years and found it’s a good site to have a same-time reciprocal exchange but not necessarily a place for flexible dates/second home exchanges. It’s extremely difficult to redeem points and I have tried multiple major cities with no luck to exchange points. I’ve accrued 4,000 points and can’t exchange them, which doesn’t work for my properties. Overall, unless your home is empty or you’re retired and can swap homes, it’s a waste of money.

  • Hate this app, and the hosts are useless

    I can’t even begin to describe how much I wish I never used this. We hosted one couple for 17 nights and I wish I had known ahead of time that guest points are useless garbage. We acquired about 4,000 from that stay and have over 5,000 from filling out our profile.
    Yeah they should tell you hosts refuse to accept them. That one stay we had they let their cat all over everything and had to fight with them over $50 for ruining our couch cover.
    Hosts never update their calendars so even when you think a place is free they tell you the dates don’t work. I HATE HATE HATE HATE this app. All I want is to use these worthless points and never use it again.

  • I used over 10 years

    I have been a member of HomeExchange community over 10 years. I have made over 50 exchanges. I have noticed in last 2-3 years that they no longer care for customers, they ignore enhancement to the product. I cannot make simple long term exchanges, I get so many unnecessary requests, or unavailable homes for my searches. Database is full of fake homes.

  • Good functionality, thin customer services

    Great concept and good app functionality but customer support sometimes appears barely existent - no phone lines available - which is important as cancellations are common
  • Helpful app

    The app is super easy to use and helpful for communication and quick needs.
  • Love. It.

    We've been using it for just under a year and have done 18 exchanges (10 as hosts, 8 as guests). We. Love. It. Have met some amazing people, traveled to some amazing places. You do have to put a bit of effort in to find a home to stay in ( if your expectation is that you can just enter your dates and location and press a 'book' button and have a place to stay you're probably going to be disappointed - exchanges require you to have a conversation with the guest/host via the app message function first). But that's part of what we love - getting to know the people who are staying at our home and the people whose home we are staying at.

    My only suggestion to improve the app and website functionality would be to enable users to have their welcome booklets attached to their profiles so they can release them to their guest prior to their stay (we currently email ours through). It would be nice if that could be done through HE but it also shouldn't be automatic - the host should be able to choose when it gets released because most have access codes or key locations in them.

  • Some members get no notification of waiting messages

    The app works fairly well with this serious shortcoming:

    Another HomeExchange member I have been in touch with through the HomeEchange app tells me she didn’t know she had a message waiting from me longer than a week, because she wasn’t notified by email or any other way. I always receive notifications as soon as another member leaves me a message on the app; in fact, the entire message is sent to me by email.

    What does the other member have to do in order to configure receiving email notifications when they have a message waiting?

    This has been a serious problem with other members as well, and has degraded the experience of setting up exchanges, possibly even causing some exchanges to fail because of the delay in learning that a message was waiting.

    Hi Tim, Thank you for your review. Regarding the notifications, this is done automatically ( both through email and if you have our app, through the app) unless the Member manually stops this our removes our notifications. Your HomeExchange Team

    Información engañosa. Fue una buena opción, pero ahora es todo on line y si tienes problemas, no te resuelven nada. Totalmente déspotas en sus gestiones. No te dejan alternativas
