  • Not worth the headache

Bought and installed front and rear 900x. Seemed to work fine for about a month so I purchased a second for wife’s vehicle. After about 3 months, unable to connect the either camera. I tried uninstalling app, reinstalling app, removed cameras from app, reinstalled cameras on app. Each camera broadcasts a wifi, I can connect to Wi-Fi through settings on iPhone but am unable to connect through app. Cannot view videos, tried removing SIM card and viewing videos from either camera on laptop with no luck. Seems to be company winding down operations and no support.

At least once a day the cloud function logs me out saying ID already use. It's the only device I use this on... Please fix it...
  • Sadly, I’m leaving BlackVue

After years of suffering bad app revisions, SD card issues, and camera firmware problems, I have decided to not go with BlackVue to upgrade my cameras. Actually, there really isn’t an upgrade as most offer 4K these days.

Like others report, I have the dreaded “Unable to change camera view” when trying to view videos. Nothing seems to make it work and I’m tired of waiting for a fix and not knowing if the camera is working or not.

So…time to buy a new camera from a different brand and hopefully save myself some frustration and money.

  • App Requires Frequent Reinstallation

When the app works, it’s fine. I used the Bluetooth easy pairing to find my dashcam and then I connect to it via Wi-Fi. So far so good, I can see my clips and change firmware settings.

The problem is that after some time I go to view my clips so I connect to the camera by Wi-Fi again, I see the blue spinning circle for a few seconds, and then nothing. I am back at the camera connection list. I don’t see my clips and I can’t access firmware settings. I don’t get any error pop ups. I can see in my phone settings that I am connected to the camera Wi-Fi but the app doesn’t seem to reflect that. Trying to connect again doesn’t work. The only thing I can do to remedy the situation is to delete the app, reinstall it, then log in and re-pair with Bluetooth again. Unacceptable.

  • Works but clunky

Why do I have to download videos to the app before transferring to my Photos library — it’s an unnecessary step, and once download to the app you can only share 1 video to Photos at a time. App missing basic functionality, like displaying space used/left on camera, and size of videos taken.
  • Will not connect over wifi

What have blackvue done ? It was never the best app, always slow connection but it somewhat worked, now I can't connect to any of my blackvue dashcams via wifi and the app. Is this them trying to force us to use their cloud ? Or to buy new cameras ? Well it's not going to work, it will push me to buy from a different manufacturer. I've been a blackvue customer since 2012 so I'm very frustrated now. I have a dashcam for security reasons, guess what when I need to get a video I need it urgently - it's important, and I need my iphone to connect to the app and to the dashcam right away, now this is broken - so I can't trust this product to give me my video evidence when I most need it.

  • Thumbnail Improvement

Blackvue Team.. please.. make an improvement on your thumbnail preview whenever we (users) try to review recorded footage. I get the movement is what triggers the recording, however, if you could please make an improvement on getting the “subject in motion” to be better displayed rather than a sliver of the subject on the edge of the thumbnail screen.. it’s already a pain enough trying to connect to your cameras wirelessly, but now I have to literally put my eyes close to my phone screen to review any subjects that were caught in my recordings.

  • Does absolutely nothing anymore

Brand new DR900X-2CH dash cam, and the app does literally nothing now. It used to work fine with previous models, and then of course, they made a “new and improved” app. Zero functionality. It can connect to my camera - and that’s it. No viewing clips, no changing settings, no formatting the SD card, not even rebooting the camera. The app is completely unresponsive to any taps on the camera itself, and I’ve tried everything. All new hardware, up to date software and firmware, and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Garbage.

  • Garbage app

First the app made it pair it to my phone via Bluetooth under the guise I would be able to configure things that way. Nope. Then the app forced me to use Wi-Fi to connect to the cameras, and constantly complained they had no internet prompting me if I wanted to use cellular data to which I always hit Use Cellular. It’s impossible to be connected to my home Wi-Fi or even a hotspot while Wi-Fi connected to these cameras so how else am I supposed to connect them to the internet? Duuuuuh. When selecting the use Wi-Fi option it still said no internet despite my phone literally being connected to the internet. So it wanted a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection, neither worked, ultimately forcing me to install their garbage desktop application in my computer and that is the only way I can view or configure settings in my cameras. Their desktop app sneaks in unwanted applications into Windows startup as well, without user prompt, asking, or notifying end user. Highly do not recommend, find an alternative product. Also why do my cameras need to have permission to my Contacts and how is that sort of data not identifiable? Come on, Apple. And way thumbs down for Blackvue app and cameras themselves (they run extremely hot to the touch).

  • Red Hot Mess

Update: After turning off my VPN on BlackVue WIFI the App began functioning as it should. I was able to update firmware, activate a T-moble sim card and the hotspot works well. I am also able to connect to the camera and to BlackVue Cloud where I have viewed downloaded video. I knocked off 1 star because the app is fussy, sometimes very slow, and not very straightforward.
