After purchasing the Dash cam I was concerned seeing all the bad reviews. But I can say it works well with newest update and new series of dash cam. Wifi connection works. Cloud connection works. Live view works. Download videos is easy. One thing to note. The camera saves a 1 minute file at a time. So if you drive for an hour, you will get 60 one minute files. Not a continuous file

  • Does not connect with BlackVue590W

After the update, this app no longer connects with my 590W. Horrible!
  • New app is much better

The recent update to this app changed the UI quite a bit. It’s much nicer and I no longer need to connect wifi to the camera before opening the app.

I’ve been using this with my DR900S-2CH and DR750-2CH LTE on my iPhone 12 mini. No problem with the free tier cloud service for the 750 and direct connecting to both cameras over wifi works fine too.

  • Latest update doesn’t work.

My DR650GW now does not work. I cannot download videos, cannot preview or play videos. This latest update has killed off my camera - forcing to buy new hardware?
  • Crash upon crash, cannot access cloud

I’ve had BlackVue cameras in both my vehicles for several months now. Both use LTE to connect to the cloud. While I feel the push notifications and auto uploads need improvement, the general usage has been ok.

Today that all changed. After updating I was logged out of the app and took several attempts just to login. Eventually I had to delete the app and start over. Once I got through the login issues, now I cannot access the cloud (no live view, ability to access the camera, etc.). Essential, the camera is useless.

This is obviously unacceptable and needs to be fixed ASAP

  • Great Camera Poor App

The camera quality and recording is amazing. However, as others have described, the usability of the companion app is pathetic and falls substantially short of what I expect when paying so much for a camera. It lacks any sense of intuitiveness. I constantly have to hunt around the app to figure out where features are, and what you can do varies depending on whether or not you are directly connected to the camera or if you are logging into the app remotely. I wish, like most of my other devices, I could share my wifi connection with the camera rather than being directly logged into the camera. This is a common operation that several things already use (my smart plug, my grill, etc.). Why can’t a high end dashcam do this? I’ll give it a couple more weeks, but I think I’m willing to pay for a new install for a camera with a better interface.

  • Works great With DR900x

The DR900X 2 channel is my fifth BlackVue and althoughIt’s predecessors had some undesirable issues the DR900x seems to have illuminated most of them. I added the LTE so I can now use the internet on my phone to stream music while viewing the Dashcam. The app doesn’t allow PIP yet but I hope that is on its way. I only gave the app 4 stars because although it’s better then before it still has a way to go.

    This app works great!
  • Good App. Please Read and Consider This

While in Parking Mode, I come back to my car. I open the door and shut the door. I start the car and take off.
The shutting of the door is detected as an impact and I’m notified by the DashCam that, “An impact was detected during parking mode.”
So I have to check. I stop, connect to the wifi, and check. I see that it’s just me.
I’m glad the DashCam is notifying me of an impact, but instead of saying, “An impact was detected...” the DashCam would be better off saying, “One impact was detected...”
If I’m in the same situation and the DashCam says, “Two impacts were detected...” then I’d know right away one of them wasn’t me.
The closing of my trunk registers as an impact as well. Meaning if I access my trunk then get in the car, the DashCam would tell me that there was two impacts detected and I’d know they were me.

Within the app, when accessing playbacks, cloud or wifi, you have an option for a high resolution or low resolution video. When I press high resolution and change my mind because it’s slowly loading, I cannot go back due to the infinitely spinning circle on screen. I don’t have a back button on the IPhone.
There should be a way to disregard the circle and somehow be able to swipe back, like IPhone does on other apps. Otherwise I’m forced to close the app and reload it.

  • Plan required?

I have two cars, each equipped with two channel DR900 cameras. I used to be able to access both of them through the app on my phone. No more. I don't want to buy any plans, thank you. I'd just like to be able to use the same login to see both cameras, like I used to be able to do. This kind of change makes the product worse, not better. Please reconsider.

You make great cameras, but annoying your customers by trying to force them to buy subscription services isn't a good idea. I'll look elsewhere when these need to be replaced if this doesn't change.
