  • Many wasted hours

    So I moved into a new home and my UI Moen shower screen kept turning black every two weeks. We called electricians, we called plumbers, and nothing worked, and it kept going out even with a dedicated circuit. Then we called Moen to assist us with troubleshooting and they told me that it was on my end and that it was my problem because I have 5 GHz Wi-Fi box and not 2.4 GHz. so then I was able to change my Wi-Fi over to the 2.4 GHz and go through the protocol 50 times to connect and I always get to step three of three and it times out and does not connect. So it’s not me it is this system and I have an iPhone and the text said to make sure to click on the droid and not the iPhone iOS. She said trust me. This is what works and of course that is not the case and I am getting so tired of calling service people and trying to set the system up myself with no help. I want a new system sent because I am done and this is the only way I can control the water into my shower room. It hadn’t been installed in my brand new house way before I ever moved in, and it wasn’t my decision, I would never get this ever ever….

The router you are connecting to must be compatible with 802.11 b/g/n and the network needs to be operating on 2.4 GHz with WPA/WPA2 security.   • Stopped working and no way to get it back to work

    Worked well the first few months, then all of sudden the controllers disconnected from the App and there is no way to get them back online, so I can’t control the showers and the settings from the App. The lights are always on 24/7, the temp is set at 100 and I can’t change it…..
    Such a useless system. Why creating such complexity for the user??? Just put the setting menu in the controller, no need for this useless App.

  • Doesn’t work

    This whole set-up has been a disaster from start to finish. Had issues with the U by Moen hardware in my brand new home. To their credit, Customer Support was easy to reach and did send warranty replacement parts, but ultimately I still have a sketchy product. The device is not that technically complicated but the execution seems to be so poorly thought out that it seems intentionally designed to utterly frustrate the people that shelled out big money for it. You could not try to drive customers away from your company faster if you were trying.

    So, once I finally had the system running correctly (without the app) after the entire system was replaced, it ran fine for about 2 weeks. Starting this week, now the controller goes dead over night every night and I have to hard reboot it every morning.

    I thought, “Well, I’ll try the app….”, but to add frustration to frustration, it won’t connect. I can see the unit in Apple Home and on my WiFi, but it just never connects. Doesn’t do anything.

    For those of you looking for the TL;DR - it just doesn’t work reliably. Look elsewhere.

  • The most undependable app ever made

    The most recent app update has render the app unusable. My shower has disappeared from the app along with all presets. I have completed a full WiFi reset, a factory reset, and even unplugged the valve controller from power and reconnected. Nothing works that will allow me to connect my controller to the app. It will get most of the way through the process and then hang at Step 2 or Step 3 until it eventually times out. I have always had problems with this app but nothing this bad before. For such an EXPENSIVE system you would think Moen could hire competent engineers and app developers. Please fix ASAP!!!’ EDIT Most recent app update, still does not fix the issue for me. I still cannot connect the controller to the app.

    Out of nowhere and for no reason, the app and controller are now talking to each other successfully. I made no changes or updates.

  • Useless App

    You have been doing this for years. All half assed
  • Exasperated

    Last Friday I finally got the app to sync to the controller, changed Wi-Fi and password and was so excited. Beginning of this week I opened the app and everything was gone. It says add device. I tried to sync it again and I get the little square to set it up with Apple HomeKit which I don’t want to use. Is there a way around that? The only other thing did was link it Google Home, if I unlink it will it solve my problem? My husband is having a fit over how this shower cost and that I can’t get it connected. Please help?

  • Stopped working and no way to get it back to work

    Worked perfectly until a couple of days ago, when suddenly the controller lost its connection to the App and the shower does no longer activate, not even through the manual button on the controller. Unplugged AC and battery power, cleaned the filters, re-installed the App, got two new controllers from Moen support. Nothing. Days without master bath shower…..so frustrating. This is not a serious product. I’m stuck, the whole bathroom has been engineered around U by Moen system, what a mistake. I’d have to tear down the whole hydraulics to switch brand, and this one not working at all. Such a bummer. I wonder why it is so difficult for Moen’s techs to make their controller work…..

  • Worked for one day

    Connected the app to the shower controller. It worked great for one day. After that day it lost connection to the app. Despite numerous attempts to reconnect and a factory reset it will no longer connect to the app. Very poor implementation particularly for the high price.

    Update: I spoke to Moen support. They acknowledged the app was broken and said engineers were working on it. A new update was pushed out on 4/6 but it still does not work and will simply not connect the app to my controller. There is also no way to change settings on the controller unless you are using the app. Terrible.

  • App appears to be broken

    For a premium priced product, it’s extremely dissatisfying to find that the app does not connect to the system at all. Apple home kit will control it, but not the app. A great deal of the programmable feature are present only on the app. It’s pretty feelsbad.
  • This version stopped google functionality

    My shower worked great with google home for the past 6 months and when the firmware was updated with this version, now google home is unable to turn off the shower. Turning on still works. Was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what changed to cause this and then realized this new software version was automatically updated around the same time.
