  • HomeKit doesn’t work!

    Wow did these idiots try testing this app. This update totally screwed it. HomeKit won’t sync. First time I’ve been forced to use homekit. Is it really that difficult to design an app that works in such a basic level. Also when this app is working, it’s way too basic. Missing lots of common sense features. Garbage.

  • Build your shower to use this.

    First of all, I have read reviews, searched the Internet, and studied much on this shower mixing valve. This is what I would like to say - if you are planning a new shower, or a massive upgrade of an older shower - this system is amazing. It has the ability to non-traditionally build a dream shower, without being limited to inside the box thinking with mixing valves, plumbing, etc.
    I recently built a beautiful steam shower, using this and a Mr. Steam generator. Both are rather expensive, and both have a different rule set to the traditional plumbing. It requires electrical with your plumbing, and of course planning where you will install your controller. I do realize this review is for the APP only, so I will move on to that. The app, is mediocre, at best. However, it always functions and works as it should from my phone. My issues have happened mainly with Alexa. I can’t get her to turn the shower on to the correct preset. She will turn the shower on, everytime, but it’s at 100 degrees, not my 110.

    Also, the app doesn’t allow me to change the backgrounds or anything on the Controller - it’s rather vanilla - but it works.

    Over all, if Moen would give us some fun features like changing the background on the controller, maybe adding some personal touches we can change on the app to appear on the shower controller, that would be great. But I really think they need to fix the Alexa issue.

  • Update just made it a dumb controller

    Connection with apple’s HomeKit has now bricked my unit. Cannot connect to it or HomeKit. Why why?!?! Was perfectly fine before!!!
  • What a mistake! System is garbage.

    I want to cry. I’ve wasted hours of my life trying to get this to connect. It appears utterly useless. I don’t know if I’m venting on the app or the U by Moen controller. I’ll call tech support when I have a day off work. Their support hours are 9:00 to 5:30. Incredibly inconvenient if you have a job.

  • Terrible App

    Had this for about 18 months non HomeKit version 4 outlet controller
    First 6 months
    - disconnects from shower controller every other week for no reason. Good thing is I can reconnect by going through the steps
    - even when connected, looses presets
    - got sick of resets and reconnects and just using the controller as a look nice dumb controller

    After 6 months
    - I go away for a few days and come home for hot a shower and the controller shows two instead of four and they don’t work. To fix the problem, on lucky day factory reset works and on a bad day, have to go to the access box, disconnect the power and reset
    - when I try to connect to app, on the step where you enter WiFi details, I get Empty Fields error. I have all visible fields filled in...tried 100 different ways but no luck (reset, delete app and reinstall, create a new account etc etc)

    Now
    I have a dumb controller that looks good costing 4 x others and have to spend 20mins every other week to get it to work.

    When ever I take the time to call 1-800 line, I am outside working hours or closed for holidays. Is it too much to ask for a decent customer support when you are paying 1000$+ on the equipment and 1000+ premium for a plumber to put it in vs regular?

    I would have trashed it and not bother with this crap if only I can...to take it out and put a regular one in, it’s a full shower remodel.

    How is it so hard to make a decent app Moen?

    Don’t buy if you are lucky enough to read this before buying and if you bought it but have not installed yet, return. If you installed but did not put tiles on yet, it’s your opportunity to get it out.

  • Expensively Horrible

    The app is so bad. Feels like a 2010 app. So bad.
    The valve and main unit won’t update their firmwares (again). And no way to force or fetch.. ughh! So very lame!!!

    The only bright spot (I guess) is customer service (except hold times are ridiculous). I’ve had to call so many times and get new equipment (which, as I said, they’ve been amazing in this arena).

    Seriously, if I had known all this, I would have gone another direction on my new buildout.
    Sad and I really feel cheated...

  • Controller changes to 2 position

    Installed 4 position controller, connected and worked great until new update. Went to show it off and the controller screen showed a 2 position controller. Tried reset now app will not function to identify, app goes to Apple HomeKit and fails.
  • Needs more HomeKit support

    App and controller are working well as far as they go. However, unless I’m missing something, the HomeKit integration is very basic: on, off, and set the temp. There is no way to trigger one of the presets via HomeKit and subsequently via the shortcuts app (and there is no direct integration with the shortcuts app). I believe these could be added as “HomeKit accessories”. All I’m trying to do is to have a widget button on my iPhone/iPad’s Home Screen that starts my preset. I don’t want to have to use my voice via Siri to do it (which I believe IS implemented).

  • Time zone

    I am using the U by Moen in Brazil for the past 2 years. Everything works perfectly. The only negative point is the time zone. The app does not include the time zone in brazil.
    Is there anyway you can add that time zone or at least allow users to set up the time without being restricted by the time zones given in the app ?

  • Save your money

    I spewed thousands into this system and it just does not work. It appears that as of right now although this system is super pricey, Moen has not focused equal resources into getting this hardware and software to work. Research and development is just not there on this yet. I assume it will take many orders for this system before they will put the time required I to getting it to work right. I’m a home inspector and I just don’t see these systems anywhere other than my bathroom. If they don’t catch on then anyone with this system can expect support to vanish.
