  • What’s the point?

My provider switched from FollowMyHeath to this portal. I don’t know why they switched, this mobile portal is pointless and doesn’t give the information I want at my finger tips. Everything is mobile first these days and clearly Athena health is not up on the current trends. Athena needs to take a page from FollowMyHealth and add new features to the app. From ease of use to basic information like vital history is what they need to work on. FollowMyHealth has charts of vitals that I can look at and quickly see my trends, right on my phone. Which is extremely helpful when talking to my provider about my health.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. We are working to roll out additional functionality to the app including some of the features you've noted. Some of the features you're looking for are currently supported on the Patient Portal, which you can login to by visiting https://www.athenahealth.com/patient-login We hope you'll give the app another shot in the future. - athenaPatient Team
  • Someone needs to seriously fix this app

I would give this zero stars if I could. No matter how many times I update this app, it never lets me login, but I can login perfectly fine through a link sent to me (i.e. when I get sent a link through text to pay a bill) or through the web.
Why do I continue to get an error message when trying to login to the app saying “Something went wrong… it looks like there was a hiccup on our end and we’re unable to log you in. Please try again in a few moments. We apologize for the inconvenience.” ????
It’s been doing this to me for MONTHS now, this is RIDICULOUS. FIX THE APP OR DON’T HAVE AN APP AT ALL!!!!!!

Hello T, we apologize for your frustration trying to login. We recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if this resolves the issue. If not, please provide additional details here: https://bit.ly/4cBEkUn This will assist us in pinpointing the issue. - athenaPatient Team
  • Simply doesn’t work.

Not only does this not work well, it Simply doesn’t work. For us new users there is not the obvious create new account option. After wasting time looking for the create account option one concludes the only option is to “REset” a password that has never been set. So now that I’ve RE-set something I never set up, my attempts to log in are thwarted with, “something went wrong, try again later”. What a waste of 30 mins. Take this off the market until a working model has been created. Stop wasting our time.

Hello Glendolph, thank you for your feedback. There are a few ways you can create an account to access your Patient Portal and login to the athenaPatient app. Some practices using athenahealth offer Patient Portal access on the homepage of their website. Just look for the Patient Portal link and click on it to be taken to the Patient Portal welcome page. Once there, click the sign-up link below the Log in with athenahealth button. This will take you to the registration page, where you can create your athenahealth account. If you’re having issues finding the Patient Portal link on your provider’s website, you can contact their office for the correct URL or to request an email invitation to their Patient Portal. You can also visit https://www.athenahealth.com/patient-login and click "Find Your Portal". - athenaPatient Team
  • Add pop notifications when a message comes to your inbox

More of a feature request than review.
Please add a pop up notification on the phone when you receive a response in your inbox from a provider at the moment I have to keep checking over and over again by opening the app to see if I have a response from my provider.
  • Doesn’t update timely

Excited to have a provider who finally supports this app. However, the appointments page is blank in the App, but the web portal shows my upcoming appointments. Also nothing in the results tab on the App but on the web portal shows my test results. Messaging is the only feature that has worked for me. Would also be nice to be able to share health data with the Apple Health App.

  • Loses Its Mind

If we want to compare this against the mainstream of properly designed apps, it doesn’t stack up well. Against other apps for communication with a medical practice, kinda meh. But if you want to use a phone app and this outfit is what your doctor chose, you’re pretty much stuck with it. The main problem with it is that you can be in the middle of, say, entering a long message to the medical team, and have to switch over to a different app, perhaps with the intention of doing a copy/paste. And when you come back to this app, it has completely lost the plot and you have to start over again. Or do what I did and access the web portal instead. Recently, the app has been sending me notifications to check in for my upcoming appointment. But when I tap the notification it just takes me to the page that shows my next appointment in over a month. Trying to send in-app feedback fails, saying that the address doesn’t exist.

Hello Ron, thank you for your feedback. We are working to add additional features to the app in future versions. The issue you've described of navigating in and out of the app while composing a message sounds like built-in security that locks the app when navigating away from it to protect health information. This is intended functionality but we'll share your comment with our Product team for consideration. We apologize for the inconvenience. - athenaPatient Team
  • Missing key items

Good app but something missing like uploading of photo. What if my dr need a photo proof of my glucose or blood pressure or a rash.
Documents section for Referral could be printed out. Please considered this. Also zoomed or google skype messages links would be needed so please think about that especially when trying to connect with patient provider.

Hello Leah, thank you for your feedback. Great news! Secure message attachments have just launched in the app and you can now attach a file, photo, or take a photo to attach to your message. The app does have the ability to send messages to your provider. Tap the inbox tab and on your screen a purple bubble will appear with a message icon, tap that and follow the steps to compose a message to your provider. This is the same spot you'll be able to add the attachment as well. We do plan to roll out additional features such as better printability for results and documents. - athenaPatient
  • Constantly logs out

This app times out after a small amount of inactivity, forcing you to log in again. It defeats the purpose of using the app over the webpage. Even if you set up Touch ID, it works for a bit, but then the app “forgets” it was set up, and you have to log in from scratch again. I’ve just stopped using the app and gone back to the webpage, as the app also doesn’t allow me to use Touch ID to login to it with my email/password, so it’s more inconvenient than going to the webpage.

If the developer fixes these two issues, I can update my review. They should at least give users an option to change how long the app has to be inactive for it to timeout. I understand the app contains sensitive medical info, but 99% of the time, it’ll be on someone’s personal, password-protected phone, and if the user him/herself accepts the risk of increased timeout times, that’s on him or her, not the app.

    Thanks!

Hello Davoos, thank you for your feedback. I will share this with the development team. athenaPatient is set to time out after 5 minutes of inactivity. Similar to a banking app, your full login credentials are required to log back in for security purposes. - athenaPatient Team
  • Worthless so far.

God help you if you change email addresses! Your only hope is to telephone them, and that’s if you can find a phone number, and then, maybe a human?
Their forms to fill out online are dark and impenetrable to put a cursor into a field.
I am furious my clinic changed to this portal. I really depended on the one we had before. Clinic changed arbitrarily with no explanation.
Best hope is to dump the app and start over.

Hello FP, we apologize for the difficulties you are having logging on to the app. Can you provide more details on the forms you're filling out being dark? Are you filling them out through the app or on the Patient Portal through a website? I'd like to share this with our product team to investigate. - athenaPatient Team
  • Nothing but issues since my office converted

I feel like I constantly need to change the password and most recently when trying the email needed does not come through to my email. I have tried using the website as well as the app. I have updated my phone and ALL my other apps to ensure that was not the issue and still nothing.

    Developer Response

Hello KP, Your healthcare organization should be able to assist you with resetting your password if you are not receiving the email to do so. -athenaPatient Team
