  • D7 connection issues

In reading many of the reviews, there is a lacking from the developers to resolve these connection issues, making their app and product one of the worse on the market.
Why is this issue not getting resolved?? I have to keep reconnecting to my two D7’s but now I can’t even reinstall them, with no Wi-Fi visibility.
How about sorting this and telling us when it will be resolved

  • Unstable

I’ve had my Neato and have been using the app for about a year now. The app is terribly unstable. NOT what you would expect from a company that charges so much for their products. The only thing the app needs to do is talk to Neato and start cleaning and probably 30% of the time I get stuck on an error screen that says “App update required”. Every time this happens there is no app or phone update to perform. I’ve written into support and they gave me a bunch of troubleshooting steps that you normally prescribe to buggy software - log in/log out, restart phone, toggle some system settings, and here’s the best one - repair the robot. Due to the stability problems in the app, pairing the robot is a really long and painful process. It’s the last thing I want to do and honestly I’m not even 100% confident the app would work well enough to do it. Please Neato, get this app in better shape. I want to love it but it’s so hard!

  • Horrible App and Support

The Botvac itself is great but it constantly loses connection with the app and you need to go through the process of uninstalling the app, resetting the vacuum, reconnecting it over and over again until it decides to work. We’ve had this vacuum for about 2 years and I’m about to just toss it and buy something else, which is a shame because the device itself works well.

But why not reach out to support? Well, they’re just about useless. They’ll talk about your router’s DNS being wrong, they’ll blame your SSID (yeah, apparently my SSID is “wrong”), they’ll claim your WiFi channels are all wrong, they’ll insist your network is at fault all the time. It doesn’t matter that you have a house full of devices that work flawlessly, it doesn’t matter that you do network stuff professionally, they’ll insist your network is at fault. It’s like they just spin a wheel of networking terms and whatever it lands on is what they blame. They should be embarrassed about the quality of support they provide for people who spend hundreds of dollars on these devices.

  • Wish for more functionality

I wish both the app and robot had more functionality. For the app I wish i could: 1. better design zones with something more than rectangles. 2. have a mapping function that would skip the vacuuming so u could map without waiting for the battery to recharge to almost 90% before finishing. 3. wish i could define how much re-charge to do to finish an area so i didn't have to wait so long. 3. wish i could see current locations the robot is on demand (that way i could see if i want to allow finishing off a zone out just sending it home. 4. Wish the robot could re-find its location more easily by noting certain landmarks (on the map) so it could lidar and find its way. 4b. Wish i could help it finds it way through the app map by pressing on its relative location in the map (it thinks it's here but i let it know it's over there).. Happens with tables and chairs and kids. 5. Wish it could handle higher ply rugs. 6. Wish I didn't have to re-map a whole level b/c of small furniture change i could re-map the area.

  • Turn band steering off

My problem was I couldn’t drive my neato in manual mode

After months of not getting anywhere I found by accident that if you have a modem that uses band steering turn it off. Even though the app communicates fine if on the network via different bands or AP it has to be on the same SSid and frequency to drive the bot on manual mode. Very please it’s working a great product.

  • Poor internet connection

We have the D7 hoover which is brilliant and would highly recommend, but the app is useless we have to regularly reconnect the hoover and recently it just won’t connect at all, we have given up trying. Very poor app and very basic hard to navigate around the app. Hopefully they will bring out a new app as the hoover is excellent, luckily you can use the hoover without having to go through the app

  • App is terrible

While the vacuum lives up to the Neato name and does an excellent job cleaning, the app is cumbersome and faulty. The initial setup was very difficult even for an experienced computer network technician. That said, once I finally got it connected, any time I want to control the robot I have to disconnect my phone from the WiFi the robot is connected to in order to find the robot. That makes no sense but it works. Yes, the robot is connected to my home WiFi but I control it using my cellular data signal. It does work remotely though meaning I can start the robot from anywhere as long as I have a phone service. Recently, the system fails to load the cleaning map when the robot goes to run its scheduled cleaning and I have to manually intervene and restart the process repeatedly before it will clean the house. Very frustrating. Probably look somewhere else for my next robot.

  • Useless

This app is useless. As others have said when you pair a D7 to the app it always goes offline. The schedule to clean certain rooms works half the time. Mine gets lost every time going to the kitchen trying to crawl into the fire place or getting stuck under a side table. You move it back to the base and do it again and it does the same thing but if you do a whole house clean it has zero issues. What gives neato? Your customer service is a joke, you parrot a script and don’t know anything about your own product. Your software updates fried my d3’s motherboard and you wouldn’t repair it so I got this one. The product itself is decent and cleans well but your software developers have no idea what they are doing and you don’t support your product if you cause a issue that causes expensive damage to the hardware. You really need to re-evaluate this app and make it work better for your devices, also you really need to test your bot firmware updates before pushing them because they are causing machines to brick out!

  • Love my new room decor

It’s nothing but a docking station robot that collects dust. Works great when I first set it up and have it learn my layout...then I add the virtual no go lines and when I want it to vacuum again...the app gives me an error that I’m on a different floor plan. Weird how I’ve now used Velcro to secure the base station down to assure that it doesn’t move at all...completely erase the robot from the app and reload it. Again...works awesome to learn my floor plan again and after it’s done I load the virtual lines and bam...same app error again saying that I’m on the wrong floor plan. I guess I can’t use the virtual floor plan no go lines??? The vacuum will not work on high pile rugs so the no go lines are a must to avoid this area. I now have an expensive dust collector that’s completely useless. I highly suggest lighting your money in fire and watching it burn then buying one of these.

  • Good products but this app is sub par

This is a very good company and they make very good products. I have the Botvac D4 Connected and it’s a nice little machine. As it should be, this review is regarding the app NOT the product for which it controls.

The interface of this app is not the most intuitive. The main screen has a lot of blank space that could be used for displaying a map or some more useful information than whether my vacuum is cleaning or charging. To access information you must tap on tiny glyphs to reveal pop-ups. In my opinion all of this information could be easily displayed on the main screen in real time. Additionally the main screen could be used to display current floor plan and or schedules for cleaning. It is a very nice looking app but the user interface could definitely do with some redesign.
