  • Worst app I’ve ever used

Considering VV want you to conduct all your interactions through the app including completing pre-board paperwork… it’s absolutely useless. Reading the historic reviews it’s always been glitchy and nothing has been done about it. I booked four weeks ago, the app stopped working over three weeks ago and I sail in two and a half days without it being fixed. Loads of phone calls and emails to their support team and quite frankly 95% of the people you deal with are not bothered at all. The just keep telling you to wait, you can call to book stuff or wait till your on the ship. Not good enough when Virgin prides itself on being a forward thinking and innovative brand 🤦‍♀️

  • Clown Shoes

I can’t believe they released this app, buggy as it is. Or maybe the bugs are on their back end. But the fact remains that the Virgin Voyages app experience has been frustratingly awful. I’ve been trying to book a shore excursion for two people. It charged me for one person and keeps canceling one of our reservations.

Richard, if your app is this bad, you need to have a whole lot more people available to answer phones, which appears to also be sorely lacking.

  • Crashes everytime on everything

I am in IT and did not believe it is possible to release such a flawed App. Every other action leads to a crash, asking whether you want to send a report. Only problem: the report button doesn‘t work. Ever heard of testing?

Today I cancelled a restaurant reservation receiving a confirmation from the App. I cannot book a new reservation because the App still thinks I have an open one. Oh boy!!!

  • Needs an architectural overhaul

As a UX Designer myself, I found this app to be too complex. Ship maps, event & dining reservations, and the agenda should be 10x easier to book and use. Even the global nav doesn’t make sense. I get that it’s just got it’s wings but that was 2 years ago. VV if you’re listening, please simplify and improve accessibility. Gets 2 stars instead of 1 for the dining & event reservations experience as a saving grace. At least that works well.

  • Difficult to use to pay for shore excursions

I’ve been booked on a cruise since august and couldn’t add a payment method until about 45 days out from the sail date. Now I’m at 25 days and trying to book a short excursion and though the app still have my method saved, it doesn’t recognize it when trying to book. Even when reentering the information, it doesn’t let me confirm; however, minutes later, I get an email to pay for it through their website and not the app.

Not the friendliest of apps, though I’ve heard it’s better than other cruise lines. I don’t think that “better than others” or better yet “not as bad as the others” is the bar when it’s still clunky and gives a less than seamless experience.

Now I’m afraid I’ll have to wait to get onboard to try and book these experiences, despite having availability now and there won’t be any then. I’ve already had to email customer service twice for this cruise and it’s annoying to have to do over and over again, especially when they clearly can’t get this one simple app to work properly even when they had COVID give them extra time to work on it and then having sailings since 2021.

At least the onboard experience is infinitely better.

  • Getting worse not better!

This is my 2nd cruise (dec 2021 and sept 22) and it worked better 2 months into them sailing than it did during my current cruise. I even have the premium internet as part of the deep blue rewards and it does not help minimize the app crashes. I was not able to book any restaurants despite not having eaten already at the one in question and the app kept saying I had a clash when nothing was on my agenda. This is the biggest downside to the cruise and with it relied on so heavily it’s a big pain point. Sailor services is somewhat helpful but to go to them for every issue is cumbersome when an app is the answer for everything (or should be). You used to be able to see menus for the restaurants on the app, now that doesn’t show up. Opening/closing/uninstalling does not help at all.

  • Very bad app!

When I first downloaded the app the only problem I had was it wouldn’t take my credit card no matter how many times I tried!! Then it decided to log me out and now for whatever reason won’t let me back in!! Keeps telling my that my information is invalid! I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled this app so many times it’s driving me nut’s!! I leave in 4 days and the cruise and can’t get the stupid app to work! As a TA this isn’t making me want to sell your products when I can’t even get it to work for myself- bad form!

  • Dreadful

For a cruise line that relies so heavenly on their app you would think it would be perfect, but it’s terrible. What you see the most is “we hit a snag” banner showing a problem, or the octopus saying something went wrong. I have a voyage in 11 days and want to make reservations but the app keeps saying bon voyage from my last cruise. I connect my next booking and it shows up for 5 seconds and then says bon voyage again.

VIRGIN IF YOUR READING THIS HIRE AN IT TEAM THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!

  • Disappointed and not even onboard

App is already buggy and I haven’t even stepped on board. The app never remembers my sailing, sometimes it tells me my “ship isn’t ready”, sometimes the lower navigation bar disappears; it’s all very disappointing. The only suggestion from Virgin was to delete the app and reinstall it which of course did nothing. As a first mate it makes me hesitant to recommend the product as the app appears to be a major aspect of the cruising experience for Virgin.

  • Barely works

Unfortunately this app hardly works, and even when it does, most of the functionality is hit or miss. I can’t seem to get passed the app loading screen any longer. And even when I could enter the main portion of the app, it wouldn’t saved my booking and the bottom buttons weren’t available so I couldn’t really navigate through the app well. Given how crucial the app is to the cruise experience, this is frustrating.
